    6V battery charger anyone?

I've got a nice 12V battery charger I built years ago out of an old clock radio (F5Dave, there's your solution) but it doesn't do 6V and I'm not really 100% sure on how to modify it any more.

I will need a 6V charger in the next month or so, does anybody have one here I can borrow for a little bit?

You need another 6v battery - go on,you'll never get another chance to own two 6v batteries! Do swappsies, see which one you prefer better.Keep a spare for those times you really need it.

    6 + 6 = 12.5

You know, I should do just one big Ixion Goodies Trip and get all the myriad shed raiding over in one hit.

I'll send a van ahead with the Speights.

Our charger is one from Supercheap, near the bottom of the range but it can be selected to either 6v or 12 v and stops charging when the battery is charged. Was only $20 or $30 if I recall correctly, hardly worth borrowing one for that.

I got mine for around $15 from Bunnings, it can switch from 6V to 12V

Oh right, nice -- I was looking (not very hard) on Tardme and they were more $30-40. If they're only that much I will just buy one.

So how does that compare with the smallest 6v battery you can find - then you can charge them in series at 12v.

Tom, PM me or give me a call. My one here is switchable, and since I'm only 2 minutes' walk from your work...

It's not like you'd have anything better to do on a Monday night in the Hutt

Cheers Pete! Much obliged. I've decided to find a bit of white vinyl to do a two-tone seat like your C102. I'll be able to pull chicks left, right and centre then.

wouldnt you just need to put a voltage divider on your 12V one you built to put out 6v? or is it more sophisticated than that?

Probably but I'm using a feedback loop to keep it at 12V... I suppose I could just tack it onto the end. It was a fun project years ago in school but I should probably just buy a modern type, it's a lot more compact and probably less dangerous.
