This article was in the local Taranaki Daily News this morning.
Friends and emergency services searched frantically in the pitch black night after an Okato motorcyclist skidded off the road during a late night trip home from Opunake.
Keen biker, Jeremy Robert Conder, 28, had been just five minutes away from his home on Oxford Rd on Friday night when it appears he crashed on Wiremu Rd.
Mr Conder's bike was found on the bed of the nearby stream, but searchers failed to find the fatally injured man.
Police say he had lost control, hit a tin fence and was hidden from view in a stand of bamboo for up to 30 minutes after the crash.
Taranaki District Health Board paramedics, who also helped in the search, said he died soon after he was found. They were unable to revive him.
His beloved bike, a 2002 Buell, left 100m skid marks along the grass verge. Alongside, on the road, are black tyre marks where his horrified mate, following on his own bike, locked up his brakes when he came to a stop after witnessing the crash just before midnight.
Mr Conder's partner, Jasmine Care, and a close friend, Kelvin Jordan, of Rahotu, yesterday moved to correct earlier reports that his mate had left the scene.
The mate, whom they declined to name, had done everything possible to help, they said. He had tried to find Mr Conder, flagged down a passing motorist, and returned to the scene with Ms Care in a car.
"He went home to get me. We all went back. He wouldn't leave his best mate. He wouldn't do that," Ms Care said.
She said it "felt like forever" before they found him in the bamboo. "I was looking and calling out."

Why ? The official report will be out soon enough !
Untill then it is another biker down thread in a forum that seems to thrive on them and making speculation as to what happened !
Someone cries foul and the lynch mob howl !
Imagine how the poor bastard felt, not being able to find his mate in the pitch blackness !
Suck it up and wait till the official report comes in !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"
Bowls can wait !
Sorry to let the facts get in the way of a good public witch burning![]()
What a tragedy, poor guys - 30 mins in the dark is a long long time - whether you are fatally injured or looking for someone who is.
The pre-judging in this thread isn't anything to be proud of. I sure hope his mate doesn't read KB regularly.
It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)

Good to hear it wasn't a case of "shit, he's crashed, I'm pissed, I better get out of here".
Very pleased to hear the guy did what he could at the time, tried to find his mate, called for help then went to get the guy's partner. Here's hoping we all have friends like this.
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!
I think a moderator should delete this whole thread!!
KB'ers at their worst.
Any of you nay-sayers have anything to say???....an apology to the family/friends of the deseased and to his mate he was riding with would be a good start!!
Fuck with Yoda, Die you will!!
