A few shots from the Waimak River bank

Hi guys I was lucky enough to get down to the river not once but twice today, the first ride was a quick ride at 0730 this morning. Headed to the gate by top gun paintball
got there at about 0800 to find it still locked up. Ranger must have had a sleep in! Headed back up the road to Weedons rd and back down to the river bank that way.
Did the single tracks down to the issac's gate and home in time to look after the kids for a couple of hours.

At about 1330 I had some free time so I headed back to the river, This time I wanted to see if I could get back down from Intake rd, the litte metal bridge helped get me across the water race. And I was off.

Remove the ear plugs and mirrors( which out of interest makes the bike feel heaps smaller) and light the fires

Which way to go, they all look so tempting.Lots of entrainment to be had

Open and fast or tight and slow it's all here.

Nice to see you're "using" the big KTM
Once I get my new stator for the XT from England,I'm taking BishXT on a tour of the south side of the Waimak,so if you're up for it and want to explore some (nasty) tracks you may not have seen, let me know.

Sounds good - I'd definitely like to do some more South Side tracks! I'm only 10 mins or so from the North Bank so tend to head there - plenty of stuff, but some deep mud holes so best trailed in a group if you're on a big bike

If gravel surfing gets your vote, and the big K's certainly leave some impressive roost marks, then the Lees Valley is a good bet - went in there for a ride yesterday afternoon, up to the Okuku and then back the same way. Never seen the river so low, so it's an easy crossing!

Give us a shout next time you're heading out for the trails.

Southside you used to be able to ride all the way to the Gorge

A few years ago when I first moved to Chch I took me wee cb250rs for a look out there, as you drive down the long straight gravel road from the entrance there is the stop bank right at the end of the road. A whole heap of young fellas doing jumps on there dirt bikes so think ok ill have a crack with out seeing the other side. I hit it hard and cleared it, apon touch down blew the fork seals out the forks and f@#ked both rear shocks. I was how ever the man. just another crazy bastard from wellington really. I miss that bike.

So, I've had a Mental Health day today and took The Pegaso up the North side of the river. The river is sooooooo full at the moment places I used to play in the gravel are now Knee Deep in water.

THE ROAD IS FLOODED A KILOMETER FROM THE FJORD BY DOG TRIAL RD!

I was riding through water that was above my ankles when up on the pegs!

Be very very careful if you're heading up that way

I hear the old waimak bridge is closed cause CCC are concerned about scour around the south abutment due to the high flows.
