Considering selling my Ducati and buying...

A DRZ/KLX400 as I want to get back into adventure riding. I have a GS BMW but want to get something more trailable. Of all my bikes I feel that I coild part with my 900ss Final edition over the BMW or the Guzzi. Had an off road only DRZ that I bought new in 2000 so I know the bike will fit me (or me fit the bike). If I got the DRZ/KLX then i'd probably sell the KDX also as I'm just not using it. So my question is....... Does the DRZ do the road miles ok to get me to the trails??.
Don't really want a DR650 as to big and heavy........ Had an XT600 a couple of years ago and that also was too big and heavy for real off road stuff.

    Any advice/tips/comments/trolls appreciated

    Andy.

You are in luck. I'm looking at selling my K6 very soon.

DRZ's are great, if you live fairly close to the trails. I have a blast on mine, but I'm now finding that I need something bigger. I'm traveling further and further to find different tracks. 500km in a day is torture. I did 250km today, and that was about far enough.

Once you get to the shitty trails, it all becomes worth while.

Mate I just sold mine recently but only cos I wanted a bike that I could happily do roads on all day. I was using my DR-Z for up to 200km day rides, much of the distance being on the road. 300km is a long day on a DRZ I found, but then I also did the DB1K on it this year and it was still great to ride - jsut can't expect it to sit with the "big" bikes all day is all. But it would easily pull to 130 and sit at 120 all day...just a bit high revving I guess.

If Money grew on trees I would still own one for trail biased adv riding.
There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.

    Yep except...
"jsut can't expect it to sit all day is all."

Don't worry. Cnut is pretty high on my priority list at the moment.

Ducati 900FE. Number 097 of 500 made for the world market. 300 were made for the US market but had a different engine. 12000km's. Beautiful.

I think you would regret selling that beautiful Duc. You will miss the quality motion that not many bikes have.
