If you haven't done much riding - which it sounds like you haven't as you are inexperienced in purchasing bikes - or riding them, then why would you go for a hard out sports bike.

I think you should go for a bike that you can learn to ride on properly, gain all the riding experience you need - and then later, get a Real bike - who cares what brand - so long as you have tried them all and made up your own mind.

Personally, every bike shop would help with finance - you just got to find the right bike for you! That is the first thing you need to do. The rest will follow.

    Happy bike hunting

Ive been on bikes for 11 years, had plenty of experience, if not a tad wary after nearly getting killed last year in a head on with some bitch in a cage running a red light.
Have in the past bought bikes with cash up front, but giving up work and going back to study again means I dont have that ability anymore, which is a shame, cos I usually get a signifcant discount when turning up with a large number of $100 notes!!!

Its really just a matter of not being able to pick ONE. In the past Ive usually known exactly what I wanted and gone and bought it, but for the type of bike I want now, man, so many choices!

Be a man! Get a V-Max!! (this is my stock response, even if they're looking for a dirt bike, tourer, cruiser, commuter, scooter.....)

Just get a 2008 R1 and be done with it. They (Yamaha) are offering cheap finance on last years price(s). Dont quote me but around $18995? And if your dealer in CHCH is keen he will offer you a good trade in. If he doesnt say, "sorry man, I can't take your old stock off the floor if you offer me a shitty trade-in like that"
You'll find they will be keen to talk turkey with you, espicially if you have some cash to throw at them.

How is the hunt for a new bike going? I drove past the Oamaru Suzuki dealer yesterday and the gsxr 600 wasn't in the window anymore, so it may be gone.
