    CHUCKS MOTORCADE

ITS BULLSHIT , YA SHOULDA SEEN THE SPEED THEY WERE DOING. SO FAST INFACT THAT A COP ON A BIKE ALMOST GOT TAKEN OUT BY A WHITE HONDA CAR THAT DIDNT RELISE HOW FAST THEY WERE GOING. PRINCE OR NOT RULES ARE RULES I DONT THINK ANY MOTORCADE REGAURDLESS OF WHOSE ON BOARD SHOULD SPEED , GO THRU RED LIGHTS, HAVE ROLLING BLOCKS PERFORMED FOR THEM OR ANY SPECIAL TREATMENT.
AND I THOUGHT WE WERE SHORT OF POLICE BUT THEY SEEMED TO FIND 20 OR SO SPARE FOR THIS VISIT.
WHY DONT THEY JUST FLY CHARLES EVERYWHERE IN A HELICOPTER? HES A DIPSHIT ANYWAY AND I HAVE NO RESPECT FOR HIM OR ROYALTY.

So I see that you have found another interesting topic to talk about ..........

Great I'm sure we need to discuss these things:
    1. Cops are bad
    2. Cops are bad
    3. You are an anus
    4. Cops are bad
    5. Something about cops..........

Not as simple as that. (but I'm sure you know that)

The fact is, in the nasty world we live in, nutters will always want to take pot shots at big wigs no matter where or who they are just to get their name / cause in the head lines.

Senior diplomats, heads of state royals etc etc cannot sit in traffic with targets painted on their doors. The cost of the clean up should the unthinkable happen vastly out weights the minor hassle of a speedy motorcade.

    Welcome to the 21st century

Mate - that would be pretty unlikely - they are very well organised.

We see them a lot here in wellie to and from the airport. It's no big deal.

My office look over Fran Kitts Park in Wellington, so I see them go past quite a lot on the Quay. Doesn't seem to create that much disruption, pretty slick operation. And for the mitigation of risk of sitting in lights and the potential bad publicity, I say it is a good option.
Also, providing such a service for foreign diplomats etc. is good business I reckon.

I think Winja's helicopter idea could be a little more expensive than the current methods. And then it wouldn't necessarily be able to land whereever he was going, and probably need some land transportation anyway.

If you think these motorcades are crazy....... you should see the ones used to transfer diamonds from the mines to the transport planes in Southern Africa......

3-4 cars with guys with loaded M-16's and AK-47's who don't stop for nothing until the diamonds are delivered.... not even the pedestrians they hit.......which they do as they basically drive at twice the speed limit and use the bullbars on their SUV's to clear obstructions......
