    Bike vs pedestrian...

Couldn't believe what unfolded right in front of me and the two girls today... Old codger with his bottle of plonk walked straight out into the path of an oncoming Harley and didn't even have a look. Checked the first lane of the one way street but didn't look for the second lane at all, both coming from his left. Harley rider locked it up and tried to slide the rear out but had no chance. Flattened the old fella and high sided the Harley in the deal.

End result, old fella possible broken leg, cut and probable busted nose and a dinged head, otherwise he should be OK.

Harley rider had a dinged knee (jeans just dont save ya very much....) and grazed elbows (T shirts don't save very much either....) and gravel rash down the right side of his tidy bike. Did a top job tending to the old codger til the ambo arrived, holding his dinged head - (that, or he was thinking of thumping it into the ground a few times...!!!)

Bottle of plonk was history. Looked expensive. Nothing compared to the repair bill for the tidy Harley though..........

Thought I would share. Hard teaching kids to look and look again before crossing, if the old codgers can't be bothered...... Kids got a good lesson at least......

The old bugger probably thought "sick of these fuckers not waving" and decided to get his attention another way.

    That sounds nasty.
Not a very nice thing for your (or anyones) kids to see.

I was told that a 28yo died as a result of a bike accident today, around the coast.

Don't suppose you've heard anything about this?

I was a bit worried, as my friend said her cousin was going for a ride around that way today.

I once clipped an old guy who stepped in my path from between a couple of parked cars. I saw him and was not going fast, but shit oh dear could not avoid him in the end. Took a big hunk of flesh off his hand and we both wobbled about a bit. I think I may have given him a bit of a gobful to be fair, then I rode off. I was worried as I drew blood on him, injury accident and all that, so I reported it to the local plod. They tried to not laugh and failed miserably. I was riding a scooter.

On the flip side I have looked after a pedestrian bowled by a speeding bike and kept him as comfortable as I could. He died before emergency services arrived. He was elderly (bit of a theme here) and was crossing SH1 in Wellsford with his son after a few drinks at the Pub. The biker broke his leg really badly, it was a shocker.

Yes folks, look right, then left, then right again before your toes get into traffic, the consequences can be dire.

If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

Heard it was about midnight last night, early hours of this morning, Wiremu Rd near Okato. His riding mate left the scene soon after and the police are still wanting to speak to him.............

I had a great day out today... no incidents... bit sad that people don't know that the road is for wheels, and not feet... unless walking sideways... kids are pretty resilient and will probably take good note not to step out, or drink and walk!!!

Yeah but Auckland peds are a different breed, THAT's for sure

In the 10 odd years I lived there it never ceased to amaze me the amount of times I have had to slow or completely stop for a ped due to them walking out in front of me while driving.....I mean honestly....me & my car are entitled to the pavement as much as them

In all seriousness, Auckland peds are bonkers & play on the fact that you don't want to hit them more than they care about you hitting them, never seen that anywhere like Auckland!
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded
