Don't know who told you AMI don't do bike insurance. We currently have several bikes insured with them.

Afterthought: unless it would be your only policy with them perhaps? We have a number of other poicies with them too which may make a difference I guess.

John Baker Insurance have been good to me. I've just had a large claim with them, and they settled promptly. They're underwritten by Star. Give jetboy a pm or look them up at www.jbinsurance.co.nz.

AMI will insure bikes, but depends on your age and type of bike.

They were great with my CBR250, but once I got the Triumph, they didn't want to know and cause I'm under 25 on a bike over 250cc+.

Switched over to Kiwibike as I have heard some good things about them, and they offered my a reasonable quote & excess.

I hear some bad things about ebike though, but you'll have to ask someone else about them.

Talk to the people at Kiwibike, they specialise in motorbike insurance and are pretty helpful, especially if you're a newbie who isn't 100% sure what you want/need.

They were friendly on the phone, happy to answer questions and gave me a couple of different options for premiums vs excess then set up 14 day interim cover until I could sign the papers so I was insured by the time I got off the phone.

    Very easy.

na if an insurance underwriter offers a motorbike (or any other for that matter) policy then they have to consider it even if it is stand alone business. Even Vero considers bike policies. (I would know)

Yep... it will be because its a Kawasaki... its odd, but it seems that the ZX6R say, looks to be more "dangerous" than the GSXR600 for insurance, exemptions etc...

Maybe its because of all the high letters in its name? Z, X etc Except that means that a zzr250 is pretty dangerous

Kiwibike is my insurer... that said, this thread/topic has been covered many a time already...

Our 3 bikes are all with Vero in their Christchurch branch with Dave Golightly. AA here in Auckland sucked big time. We have all our insurance with them including our cars but they wouldn't insure the ginny cos I wasn't on a full licence at the time. Then they wouldn't insure the bandit because I'd been on my full less then 2 years!! Finally when they did deign to quote us for the 3 bikes we told them to bog off as Vero (who we ended up going to for the GN insurance) quoted us heaps less. We've been very happy with Dave Golightly and would recommend him to anyone.
