    Motorcyclist dies in Taranaki

Taranaki police are keen to speak with a motorcyclist they say left the scene of an accident in which another motorcyclist he was riding with died.

A 28-year-old was killed last night when his bike left the road near Okato and skidded into a stream. Ambulance staff were called but the man died soon after they arrived.

The victim's next of kin have yet to be contacted.

What on earth would possess you to leave a mate in that situation.

I did read it as the guy was there when the ambulance came, but left before police arrived.

May the bridges I burn light the way.

Yeah, saw that and had similar thoughts to those posted, but upon re-reading the report I am with Conquiztador on how it seems to have gone down. Will wait for further reports with much interest.

Might have been that way. Must have had a reason he wanted to avoid the police. Still fucking rude tho leaving his mate like that, whatever the reason.

and along comes the lynching mob

Maybe he was in shock, could have been he's just seen his best mate die.

Shock causes people to do some strange things, we don't know if anyone told him to go an sit down/ go home or whatever.

While I agree that you never leave a fallen mate, once the pro's are there they always tell you to give them space and let them do their job, there is nothing more you can do.

Maybe thats how he felt....nothing more to do.....go home...mate dead.....melt down.........

Shezze I'm hate to lose somebody only to have a bunch of people tear me apart even further when they know nothing of the situation, only the media side and well we know they only print the exact truth now don't we.

But this is the internet and its always easier to attack anything from behind the screen.

Police said the victim was found shortly after the incident
A second motorcyclist, who was with the victim at the time of the accident,
May have been a passer-by who just saw the accident and stopped. There is nothing there that says those two where riding together.

"They also want to hear from anyone who may have been passed by one or more motorcyclists north bound on or near Wiremu Road before midnight"

From the Herald article. Reading between the lines it is not certain whether they were riding together and they may suspect speed...but just an guess.

    RIP fellow rider.
