Wanted to hire: Experienced, good rider with lots of patience

Sarah and I were discussing this at the Otaki ride on the weekend and I'd really like to get something up and running if it's at all workable.
We used to do this for mountainbiking and I dont see why we couldnt for MX if there is someone out there who is interested.

What I would like, is to run either a one-off, or maybe a series of MX Skills Courses for women on MX bikes, so that we girls can learn to ride well, get faster, go harder and generally give our bikes a better workout.....

So what we need is one or two guys out there who are really, bloody good riders. Who also have a fair amount of PATIENCE (and I yelled that because it is so very important) and are willing to give up a bit of time, in exchange for a bit of money, to give us some lessons.
They will have to remember that women need to start with the basics, starting the bike (and a few things to help us when our bikes dont start first time), handling the bike, positions on the bike, footing, using the gears properly (slowing as well as accellerating), braking techniques etc and then move onto the likes of cornering, handling the speed, uphills, downhills, berms etc.
It would also be a bloody great help if the person teaching would teach a bit about maintenance, looking after the bike, cleaning it, lubes and what parts need it, fuel, what to check before you ride (brakes etc) and things to do when your bike wont go. Not too deep, but just a few of the little things that often give trouble, like spark plugs, fuel etc.

I am more than happy to put a bit of work into it if there are one or two guys who are qualified and able to do the actual teaching part....
Preferably in the Wellington area as thats where I am based and I know there is me and two others (Sarah and Jo) who would come along for definite - and there must be others out there I am sure who would both benefit and enjoy this.

If anyone is keen/interested please either post something here, or drop me a pm. I'm a SAHM so am on and offline all day between baby calls lol

If you were in Auckland I'd offer my help.
I've thought about this myself but to be honest I couldn't be botherd with the organising it would take. I think you have hit the nail on the head as it appears from what I have seen advice is always best given from a thrid party. What I mean from that is I have been witness to couples getting pissed at each other when trying to learn off road riding and draging into the lesson the fight they had last week over the dishes as one or both parties never listen, or so I've heard. The guy rides off and leaves the lady to fluster her way through a ride and end up not enjoying it.
I'm sure you will find someone in your area who would be able to offer some time and advice.

Broxy rider coaching did an all girls day, was real good and covered pretty much everything you just said, and i think they travel round the country.

Who/what are they and how do you get hold of them?
If I cant find anyone local I might try them, but I would much rather have someone based in Wellington as it will be much easier with the weather, to be able to postpone rides weather pending......
If someone is coming from out of town, bit harder to do that. More expensive for them too.....

Another point is that a local rider would hopefully have better knowledge of local spots, places to ride the types of stuff you want to be teaching.....
Not necessarily true of course, but would be an advantage of being a local...

So we really need someone from Wellington/Wellington Area.

Well, again they arent Wellington based and I dont think someone out of town will be able to do what we need with the flexibility Wellington weather needs......

On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

Yes i saw that - assumed she was one of 'the girls' you were referring to. Sounds like it was a good time there.
