I have the 07 XB12R ( from new ) and love it. top speed is not high ( 220 km/h ) but they do not piss about getting there with the race kit fitted.
service and parts are cheaper than most bikes. they don't need much attention.
handle very well, it is what they are know for.
the front brake shudders when it gets really hot, only happened to me a couple of times on the road. it would happen on the track i think.
they are not slow and they are great to ride.
try one.
My advice to you (as the Buell tech stuff has already been well covered) is to get yourself straight again by that I mean healedand test ride, test ride and test ride again.
Only you know what's fun for you and riding is the only real way to find out. Don't let any preconcieved ideas about capacity, engine type brand get in the way of trying different bikes. Just make sure you get the colour right eh?
Trying stuff out at the track could be difficult, do any of the shops up there run customer days at Puke?
I have a 2007Buell Lightning XB12Ss and am loving it. I ride it in every day to work... Upper Hutt to Wellington and back to Upper Hutt about 70Km's distance.
Haven't had the chance to take it on a track day yet as my insurance wont cover track days even if i call them to let them know in advance so am looking at changing insurance company.
All i can say is take a Buell for a spin i think you will love it. stay away from the 1125R though. i think they are ugly bug looking things. not my style.
But try out the Firebolt XB12R or Lightning XB12S i think you will love them both.![]()
Burn the rubber not your soul baby!
get if you can the 2006 model and above
they went back to cartridge gear boxes and this is the year they did some slight mods to engine design and drive belt 30000 ks verses 15000ks
2003 to 2005 is the contained gear box (split case to get to eternals)
in saying that i cant get enough of my little 9 it does what i want it to do
