Nothing new that they change their tactics from time to time

Guess it's a bit of a stretch to do ANYTHING illegal on a moped aye
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded

I second what Boob said...I remember Mikey fairly well but am unable to draw the link or possible link, of this chap being our historical Mikey...someone wanna provide me with the fill in?
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.
It takes a big man to cry...and an even bigger man to laugh at that man.

depends how much of a dick you're being which is a matter of one's opinion.

I have (in the past) been warned by Mr. Plod for speeding on my bicycle - and no it wasn't downhill, nor a tailwind. mid 60's in a 50kph zone.

They haven't changed much - plod or idiots

Since it isn't a legal requirement to have a speedometer on a bicycle then the police can go fuck themselves on that one IMO.

Back in the days when I was young and fit I used to take great delight in overtaking the nifty fifties on the main street of Hamilton while riding my 12 speed.

Then when I got a few bike lengths behind him, and took a closer look (until then I was mainly watching my mirrors in case some dork decides to rear end me), I see written (quite big) across the back of the bike "POLICE" and some stripes n stuff, and panniers. Oops, it's just a bikey cop lying in wait to ping BadMens speeding (not me, I never speed, speed kills, this I know , the gubbermint tells me so).

One of my general policies is never to hang around in the presence of the plod longer than absolutely unavoidable. So figuring he didnt need any help from me, I kicked into first, and pulled back into traffic (gave him a wee wave as I did so, just to be sociable, like - nuthin against them ).

Minute or so later , my little voice started shrieking "Dude, wake up, what's wrong with this picture"

Well, what was wrong was, first the rider was wearing a red hi-vis (not green-yellow). Second he was wearing a dark helmet, not white.

Third, didn't really take a lot of notice of the bike, being more concerned about watching traffic, like, but, although big and tourier-like (ie not a sprots bike) I don't think it was one of the late BMWs.

So, what gives? Has Officer Mikey of illustrious memory broken loose? or does he have an emulator? Or have the plod changed their livery ? Or what?

Yes' I'm absolutely sure aboute the "POLICE" Quite big letters, reflective, I saw it very clearly. And stripes.

It could be a cop BMW out of Motat. They are not run very often and have battery probs. Any way assist Mr Plod =brownie points!!!!!!!!!

maybe not - but it is a legal requirement not to exceed the limit. Exceed it and they are well within the limit of the law to ticket you.

Remember the idiot riding the lawnmower that got done for DIC . . .

Nifty's are cool, especially when they suddenly realise you've been drafting them and then they try and out run you

Yeah, but without a speedo how are you expected to know that you are exceeding the limit?

I remember back in the earlish eigties, the plod had a couple of GPz900's when they were still new as motorway mufti bikes. Then they used VFR750's also later on.
So it's not a new idea by any means.

We've all seen the pics of Hayabusa cop bikes....

I've managed to get a speed cameras attention, laughed for days!

You can also get done for D(R?)UI on a pushie. Fact.
Some people just can't seem to comprehend that they do not have the right to be unoffended in their lives.

You can only get done for EBA (not DIC) on a pushbike if there is a local authority bylaw. It's not general law.

Also, visited a mate at police college last year and remember seeing a brand new police bike in their service bay. It most definitely wasn't a BMW, however can't remember exactly what it was, being new to bikes. Kawasaki perhaps? It did look good though!
