    New Pillion Not fast enough

I was asked to take a lady for a ride over the weekend. She had been on a bike some years (30 years) ago when she was in her teen years. Before I headed out I gave some thought to where I should take the newbie and how I should ride. I need not have worried as my Dear wife gave me instruction. Somethin like this " Go slow and pick a nice straight road. You do not want to put her off"
So I did just that. Stuck around the 120 mark and took the corners in a long clean lines with minimal throttle while over taking. Wasn't I a good boy? I looked over my shoulder at one point to see a huge smile and a beaming face looking back at me.
However when we got home some 130 km's later I got a hug and the first words she said " More corners and faster next time please" Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I missed the chance of a life time. I think I am in love...................................
So the moral of this story " Stop and Ask"

some people, aye?? I got it wrong at 190k+ one day in the cage a few years ago trying to impress someone and almost dropped into sideways onto the front nine at the local golf club - by careful application of a small amount of skill, a truckload of opposite lock and a shipload of good luck the whole millisecond event ended in the complete opposite of tears... brings new meaning to scare the pants off someone...

Perhaps it's a good idea that you were conservative - your wife might not have been so impressed if you were that successful?!

Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

I remember my first ride on the back of a bike what an experience that was, the bike was a yamaha xj 750 police special, well no seat for my butt to sit on no I had to sit on the radio carrier with a pillow under my butt, I told the guy careful now ive never been on a bike b4 please take it easy, so off we went at a speed of 140+ me holding on for dear life first corner sccccccrrrreeeeeetch over she goes, I pick myself up and swear black n blue I aint never getting on a bike as long as I live. Next day his dad turns up to pick me up on his honda goldwing, on I get feeling real scared but we ride to where we were going nicely with no probs since then I was hooked. I also had a lot more falls when ever I went on the xj but its all good
when I met wolf I was scared and said I hadnt been on a bike for a while so please take it easy. now I cant wait to get back on the back of a bike and go like a bat outta hell.

Used to run round with two sisters on the bike. Eventually took the Mum for a ride, rugged her up & popped her on the back with instructions to hang on. Real gentle for a bit and slowly wound up to about 230K with no obvious reaction from the back. When we got home she thought we might have been doing 140 or so. News was that a bit of bragging was going on at work next week, and she was a lot warmer to the idea of the daughters and bikes combo. The youngest daughter was a real speed fiend. If you didn't drag the pipes on a ride she'd ride home with someone else. As previously mentioned a fast trip would usually result in loosened knickers. Couple of times I'd have the pipes and alternator dragging, I'd be hanging off the bike and she'd be hanging off me. Fresh Pirelli Phantom red dots were the biz.

Some dick pulled out as we were overtaking once and as we screamed past round the outside all I could see in the mirror was her hanging off me with one hand, giving the jerk the finger with the other. That was wife #1.

Make the most of it. Before the wife got onto her own bike she was an awesome pillion. We even did a track day on my old TL with her on the back and I didn't take it easy either. Went hard out and she loved it.

Different story now that she has her own bike. Doesn't like going that quick anymore when she's on the back. Needless to say she doesn't come on the back much anymore :spudwhat:

:spudwave: As she ( my dear wife )will read this in the near future I would agree but at the end of the day if you think you have succeeded that's enough when you are happily married. It would have been a close call but I think another spin at warp speed would have secured it.

I am a bit the same with the speed thing. Our youngest is only 11 so still needs some one to look after him. But my wife will never ride her own. I kinda like her on the back. Someone to get the beers in when we stop and pay for the food when we eat.
