Leasing bikes?

Does anyone know where i can lease/rent a bike for a couple of months until i sit my full?
or alternately has anyone got a 250 i could rent off the, for a couple of months?

Not many of the NASS crew have their "spare" 250's floating around anymore. say borrowing one of someone you know would be easier than leasing one for X months.

They would drop the price for long term hire but would still cost a lot.

Ranges from $75 to $145 a day but you might strike a better deal, look around.

I think you'll have minimum period under leasing.

Colemans suzuki might give you a VTR250 for about $75 a day for long term. 3 months would cost you $6750, money you could use to get a good bike.

I am sure your cage wouldn't cost $6750 to run over a 3 month period ??

If you only want it for a couple of months, consider buying a shitter that you can flog off when u finished with it.

Buy a BRAND NEW (Yes it must be brand new) bike from a shop which will take a month or so oversea shipping time. Then they might let you a 250 loan bike while you wait.

Buy a $1 - $1.5K 250cc commuter. If you grab one that has Rego, WOF and has been taken good care of, then when you do not need her anymore you will get your money back (apart from usage costs).

There is a good selection on TM. Auckland tends to have a few always going. But you might have to travel a fraction to find one.

I had a few (three all up I think) and they are light, fast and fun. Jimjim on here also had 2 for his boys. I don't think he has anything bad to say re them either.

Or you could grab the SR250 I have almost completed putting together... I could even be convinced to deliver to Akl. (Go in to Community at top, Social Groups and then Customs and Projects).

Only if you are needing a bike for a short time (days or max a week) is it worth leasing/renting.

For a couple of months, unless someone can lend you a bike, you will definitely be better off buying a 2nd hand bike and then selling it to buy a bigger one once you have your full. This is similar to backpackers that come to NZ for a couple of months, they buy a cheap car when they get here, then they sell it when they leave.

Why don't you buy Toto's bike now and trade up when you have your full?

yeah that is what i came up with. i could buy a new 250 for 80 a week so i think the leasing thing is out of the question.

problem i coming up with the cash up front! i looked a finance and paying it off over 6 months. but even for a 3k bike i would end up paying over 6k!

Re finance. I asked the question on here resently for a mate who is single again with kids, and inbetween the normal crap re "if you dont have the money you are noth worthy to ride a bike!" there was some pearls. My mate has a job, a car but not much else. GE and other "reputable" finance companies said no. But he managed to find one that said "yes". Sure, higher costs then the bank. But he has a good income so he can manage it. And he now has his his two wheel transport.
