When you're getting ready to go on that big ride.....which weather site do you check? I know there's the Herald, but that doesn't have much detail, Metservice is so-so. Anyone got any good NZ weather websites they'd like to share?

Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
As above
Met service rural OK too
A friend put me onto this one

I have no idea where they get their core info but it is quick & easy to understand + gives approximate timings of change, I've found it quite accurate too.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
Wow. This is quite possibly the most complex weather site I have ever seen. Maybe it is very very good, but I can't see anywhere within two clicks that it will actually "tell" me what the day will be like.
www.metservice.com for me.
How is this:
http://metvuw.com/forecast/forecast1...on=nzni&tim=06
any good?
It's been raining cats and dogs here in Wellington all day but according to that it should be dry!
Ride fast or be last.
Take a look at all 3. Metservice, NZ City (Personal fav) and Weather Underground and make your decision. They are all slightly different but you can find out what's highly possible.
If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

or you could look out the window. or HTFU
I go with the metservice site. Grab the "rain radar" over the last 6 or 8 hours and from that you can tell what's actually happening.
Then I pull up the "rain forecast". You'll find the two usually match patterns but there is a timing difference. That would be because the weather is arriving sooner or later than predicted. The actual rain can let you know if stuff is getting better or worse as well.
The worst I've seen from the night before is that by morning the forecast was out by 7 hours. Which meant a Sunday of rain was now clearing and fine.
If you do this a bit it all comes together and makes sense. So the forecast usually has the right pattern and you use the rain radar to get the timing.
Metvuw is a wee bit lacking compared to metservice for this.
Cheers
