    Restricted test in Ch Ch

Hello...anyone know the route the Shirley branch of AA take you on for your restricted licence? And roughly how long you spend on the road? TIA..

Was about 20 minutes when I did mine. Was in and around Mairehau mainly (Francis Ave, Westminster St, Hills Rd, etc). Did a short jaunt on an 80k stretch where they told me I could travel at the posted limit.

I'm laughing at the thought of sitting your restricted on a Nightster though.

I did my restricted a few years ago now but I did the Shirley area for my restricted and then Sockburn for full. I agree with Mully Clown - was in and around Shirley/Mairehau. It was easy peasy.. and you get the ear piece which makes it easy to know where you're going.

I hired a bike also - and I still passed even when the rental had mechanical problems e.g. breaking down on the 80k part of the test and then dying 3 more times.

I think it only took 20mins (mine a bit longer as the mechanical problems!!)..

If you are riding a Nightster I wouldn't think you'd have any problems with this test

Agree with the above posts...I did Shirley for my full was fairly easy and sounds very similar to the route described apart from addding Marshlands road and prestons (80kmh)....lots of stop signs thou.

I went to city scooters for the bike..XT225 very easy to use.
Half day hire was $60 (4 hours)

    thanks ....

Thanks for the info people...will be a breeze! I've been riding on and off for 15 years but never got my bike licence past the original provisional ( way back ) Been meaning to for ages...after a spell bikeless, buying a bike made me get my learners again...but riding a 250cc, no offence I couldnt stomach for 9 odd months...So I keep my head down...the long 6 months is almost done...my understanding is that once you have your restricted, if you have done a defensive driving course, and are over 25? you can sit your full 3 months after your restricted?

classic, I'm the other way around, had full bike licence for 25 years now, but never went any further on car licence than restricted. Funny thing is I drive for a job!

Yip you are correct. They award you with a certificate which you will need to take with u when u apply for the Full Licence.
But I think you can only apply for the full after 3 months on restricted with the cert. Which means you will still have 2-3 wait till u can actual sit the practical.

    Good luck
