    Street fighter time?

Well an old lady knocked my already rangi looking FZ over yesterday, breaking and indicator, and some other bits of plastic. I've since found out that second hand bits like this don't exist, and new ones cost an arm an a leg (quoted about 5-6 hundy for a fairing).

Firstly I love the idea of a streat fighter, the only reason I didn't do it straight away is that the tank/airbox combo looks like absolute ass without the fairings. Now that this has happened I'm leaning towards switching tanks (maybe an FZR tank?) and changing the airbox.

Question: Do I need to retune the carbs for a different airbox?

Also, is it worth going to the trouble of changing tanks and everything for the convenience of not having to go looking for expensive, obscure bits of plastic every time one breaks? I enjoy a bit of work (on bikes anyway) as long as it doesn't cost too much money...

Surely the lady would have to pay for damaging your bike?

It was my girlfriends landlord person, and it was kinda a bit of a misjudgement on my part, but mostly just carelessness on her part, she thinks its my fault though. I could push it and probably get her to pay, but what hapens when it's all my fault, then I have to pay anyway..

Unless you were there and rode the bike into her, it's her fault - assuming that the bike was parked and stationary at the time, and she hit it with her car. She should pay to get it back to how it was, at very least make it safe to ride.

Otherwise go hard with the street fightering it if thats what you want to do. If you change the airbox you're likely to lose a lot of low and mid RPM power in sacrifice for more high end power. Of course it is a 250, so you'll notice the loss a lot more than the gain.

    Put up some pics perhaps?

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

the fzr is the one bike that i will join the "dont do it bro" bandwagon on.

Typically I say if its your ride and you want to go for it, modifying bikes is fun.

But with the fzr250 the fact of the matter is it will blow up. unreliable bikes
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

Nah I didn't know about it till she told me. They have a garage door which opens a bit longer than usual and blah blah blah I parked too close and it got knocked over. She did try to stop it but she admitted she thought it might be a bit too close but she did it anyway.

Anyway that's not really the point here anyway. So lose power that it doesn't really have anyway, and get more high end which is where it's at anyway... hmm
Is the airbox about volume or is it shaped specifically too? And tuning it won't do anything about that?

Yup here's a pic of the bike before, the damage is on the other side anyway.

I'd almost be proud of dropping it... Nah I'm still getting used to the whole riding a bike on the road thing.

    Rich fairies.

Really? this ones got 70 od on the clock and the only thing I see wrong is it could probably do with a new set of rings. All I can say is I haven't heard any horror stories yet...
But yeah doing the work is half the fun

Don't worry if you talk to enough people on here you will find that every bike is an unreliable piece of crap that is going to blow up next time you hit the starter button.

I personally wouldn't go playing with the air box.

Well I'll see what happens with other air boxes, I was under the impression though that airboxes only really did much when you started picking up speed

Anyway This is what the bike looks out without plastic...

The air box is there for a reason, not just to ram air or just direct air, It is of specific size to help with vacuum. I have played with air boxes and best not too fuck with them if you have cv carbs in my experience Have fun though mate, should look sweet when you are done

Yeah well I don't really know anything about airboxes, besides about ram induction, and how I'll probably lose that effect if I change the shape, but I'm a crash course learner.
Best way to find stuff out is good ol' trial and error! And also the most fun had while finding stuff out.
