Well street fighters really are cool but I have to say you have the most unfortunate tank/airbox I have ever seen lol. Could you perhaps cover it with something? Maybe chop up the fairings so they just cover the tank/airbox?

Pistons come in packs of four, if you only have 2 you got ripped off.
Heh, yeah I dunno what they were thinking with that...
Well I though about it. But the fairings that cover the tank are rather fucked. Most of the bolt holes and mount points are broken.
Might do that while I get gauges n headlights n stuff sorted.
Lean running causing too much heat and/or detonation. I have just started a thread on how to set up my bike as an open carb system, also heres a link to Renegade masters open carb set up it may help a bit http://www.cr-x.org/cbr250/forum/top...55&whichpage=1
Go hard man, and good luck. Should go quite good if you get the set up right![]()
Oh yeah, makes sence.
Sweet yeah just saw that thread, I'll be following that one. Had a bit of a read of Renegades old one too, thanks man.
I seem to recall FZRs haveing the same airbox/tank configuration? Coz I was thinking one of those tank cover things might cover the ugly bits.
That might be easier than taking the box out and open carbing it. I'd love to get stuck in with the re jetting and getting my hands dirty but uni is starting to pick up speed. And I don't think I'll have time for both...
Right. Here we go, I started getting ready to do a compression test, pulled the plug leads off grounded them on the frame, gave the thing a good blast to get rid of all the bits of crap sitting there and whipped the plugs out. Took a look to make sure it's all nice and clean before I start, it's all g, just some black stuff that I couldn't dislodge with a toothbrush or a screwdriver...
First cylender, jam the tester in, nothing. It wasn't sealing so took a look, and there's this big ol bit of tar seal or something on the edge of the hole, which slowly rolls over and and drops into the cylender, while I helplessly yell NOOOOOOOOOOOO!
The piston is pretty much TDC, but the valves generally don't open big enough to let that sorta shit out right?
So all I'm left with is ripping the head off, or else whatever it was is most likely plow up the sleave real nice yeah?
Yeah bro that's exactly what I did. Sat and had a think after the initial panic and whacked a bit of flexible tube on the end of a vacuum cleaner hose. Sucked the bastard out nice and easy.
I then found out the gauge I got from supercheap doesn't fit between the rocker covers far enough for a good seal anyway so I'm going have to go try exchange it for one with the tube and the screw in thing. I'll get there eventually...
Yeah shoulda just gone to repco... Ah well, I'll see what supercheaps return policy is like and go from there...
Apparently it's supposed to be about 145psi (specs say 981kpa) which I thought was a little low for a 12:1 ratio. I'll see what the numbers look like when I actually do the test though.
buy a 1000!
MFSC lives on!
