Would a tf125 make a good bucket racer?

cant find any serious answers to this by searching, Can you/should you use a tf 125 for bucket racing, especially as a 1st bike, the only other available candidates seem to be ax100 (4 speed puts me off) and G4TR100 (about twice the price of the tfs ive seen), i know the tf has a 6 speed so that has to be a bonus, just wanted some feed back from some racers to see what would be recomended as a first bucket

A TF engine has tiny inlet ports, this makes it really nice farmbike engine. It will take a fair bit of grinding to make a TF fast. You can use a TS barrel and most of the grinding is done for you. My TF engine had really bad vibration problem at high revs , I think this is fixed now by adding weights to the crank (havnt tried it yet). They are good engines , another good engine is Honda MB100

who cares???? just get out and race it... then when you can get your knee down, your elbow down, then work the engine a bit...

You can make it into anything you want. Do what AJ said. Strip it down, get decent tyres(aim for 17s), go for it.

There is a bit of a step between 1st and 2nd gear and 1st is REALLY low. Other than that they're good engines. Plenty of options to make them go faster but yes you need to address your riding, the frame and tyres. Then think about the engine.
