    Not sure that's correct; see NGK's FAQs (Part Number Key pdf is 173K).

    B = 14mm thread diameter
    R = Resistor Type
    8 = heat range
    E = 19mm thread reach

    then one of:
    S = Standard 2.5mm centre electrode
    G = Fine wire nickel alloy centre electrode
    IX = High performance iridium

    The G cost me $13; half way from S to IX perhaps? IIRC the G (KTM's spec for my 200EXC) is worth buying; most likely got that idea from ktmtalk.

    (Ah, snap! reckless types faster than me!)
    (and his pdf is the same but 10x smaller)

    The top fun Site lists all there ES, EG @ $7 bucks and EIX @ $30 bucks,

    Here http://www.topfun.co.nz/ngk-xidg26838.html
    On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

    And castrol tts is the cheapest fully synth 2-troke oil, espcially when super cheap or repco do a sale. Seemed like a good oil too.

    Yeah the G series were sold as the "race" series in a red box, IIRC. Been a while since I bought one, but I see plenty of the red boxes sitting on parts shelves in bike & car parts shops. Google can't find any news of that on ktmtalk.com, and I'd expect lots of questions on there if the recommended G ceased production - especially if the replacement cost twice as much, people would moan and challenge it.

    Sorry, but I have serious doubts it's true. But you never know, NZ is a small market so may be the first to run out of stock or be forced to jump to the more expensive product (heck we may even be a test market; if we swallow it, they might cut off the USA and ROW next? wouldn't be the first time.)

    Yours skeptically,
    etc

    My link is direct to the NGK web site. Let's hope they don't change the url if they update the page or re-organise the site. Looks like there's plenty of copies of your version stored around the place, just found heaps of links & embeds of it on ktmtalk!
    Cheers,
    Colin

    I printed it as a PDf and saved it so if you ever need another one just drop me a line.
