Are motorcycles really that fast?

Yeah our family had a bunch of the cars years ago. We used to pull all sorts of stunts in them. Our favorite was hitting traffic humps at about 50-60mph. You should see them hold on - but the car whipped over them like they weren't there.

Our other favorite was to barrel along at about 80mph and suddenly and brutally swerve off the tar seal and onto the gravel and the grass and sit there with one hand on the wheel and chat away with them like it was nothing. They were like HOLY SHIT MAAAAAAN FARKEN ARRRRRSE MAAAAAN!!!!

I was driving on a trip one day, and I was suuuure I could detect something funny with one tyre. "Nah its in my head" methinks and carries on.. (80mph highway driving with corners) and some minutes later.. nah something is amiss, one corner feels spongy when I waltz the steering - soft tyre I bet.. So I haul up, and have a look and the right hand front tyre is COMPLETELY FUCKED!!! WHA???

Straight roads no matter how fast there ridden or how short they are are surely?Apart from that they take any measure of ability out of the equationEach to there own i guess but seems to be the opposite to everything i enjoy about motorcycles.If bikes and cars are to be compared then a F1 car leaves most for dead once it gets traction.Remember following a Busa over the staircase on the coast,was amusing for awhile.

yep compare them on a circuit not a straight line and an F1 car will beat a motogp bike, if you compare track records where F1 and motogp use the same track Catalunya for example nearly 20seconds a lap difference

Yep had one of these. If you took the luggage off and lightened the bike by empting the glove boxes it would have done a 12. My bike had a K+N and a jet kit but even stock had a very strong mid range.

Trust me, 30 mph in anything that wobly will feel like 60 mph. And I am pretty sure that the last contribution from the French in the field of metrology (not meteorology) was laying down the standard meter. I.e. the speed-o-meter is probably not going to be very precise.

That said, if it was in NZ it isn't unlikely they chucked a supercharged hemi into the poor car.

Mine had Daytona 1200 pistons and cams, K&N, Dynojet Neptune Mufflers and 120hp by the time I was done.
