Oil warning - Silverstream and Pinehaven (5 May)

Hey guys. I was on my way home from work tonight on my R6 and I went around a corner in Silverstream that had been doused in diesel. I entered the corner and then lost the front end and the rear at the same damn time. Luckily I got the bike to bite back on the road and saved the near lowside. It was at night and was very hard to see the diesel until it was too late!!

Good thing is I didn't go down but the bad news (mostly for bike riders!) is that when I turned around I got a good look at the diesel slick. It was about 20 metres long and was a reeeally thick puddle!!! So I called the counsil and they said they would get on to it.

The diesel came from a bus because I went through to Pinehaven on the usual bus route and found on EVERY left hander an oil slick was to be found. And the one I hit was the biggest.

So basically if you live in Silverstream or Pinehaven or if you are heading this way at any stage in the next few days, TAKE CARE!!! Oil is on the roads.

Thanks for the heads up, hopefully they get onto it quickly.

It's not diesel. Swine flu makes pigs leak grease.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

I had a look this morning and they STILL haven't done anything about the big spill that I hit. Through the heavy rain the diesel seriously stands out! So not only is it wet, it is oily on the roads. There are no signs out or anything so take it easy through Silverstream and Pinehaven, there are spills freakin' everywhere.

And as for police, I got breathalysed at about 10pm on Saturday and on my way home at about 2:30am the checkpoint was still there AND I got pulled over by 2 policeman on the way home from Lower Hutt to Silverstream!!! They told me to try to 'keep the noise down'... clearly they were jealous.
