mysterious leakage

i have owned my bike now for a while now and never realy had any issues until now. :spudwhat:

i a couple of weekends ago i took the zed down to wellington. i stopped at ohakune to check if i was on reserve when the coolant just came out the waste tube. hmmmm,not good. i went onto waiouru (no choice as everything closed in ohakune) got some coolant and topped it up. ok, talked to a mate who reckod that it was a faulty radiator cap.
when i got down to welly i thought id test it out. but bugger me it was fine!!

thinking it was just one of those things, i keept an eye on it for a litte while longer. now i have discovered that there is a small amount of coolant around the water pump housing and some sitting between the hose and the housing.

is there any body out there with an idea why its doing this?? or even better how to fix it??? any help would be most appericated.

Sorry to say buddy, but your bike is gonna have to be put down soon.
Your better off selling it now and buying a new 999!

Nah... you wanna get a 600 duc.... only problem I have with the coolant is that it's hard to put in the back tyre at some servos.....









check your hose clamp and have a good squiz around the waterpump gasket.. they might be old and crap

If the water you found is only a nominal amount keep an eye on it but dont worry too much about it.GPZ900`s used to be notorious for over-heating,problem was apparently sensors that didn`t work or cut in too late.Common mod was to rig up a switch so that you could flip the fan on in traffic without waiting for the bike to do it`s thing.If it`s only happened once I`d not worrry,just keep an eye on the level once a week or so.Possible that your little leak has been going for months and eventually it`s going to have your coolant down below the required level.If this is the case you can either spend loads of money getting your bike torn down or take the rad cap off every week or so.There`s stuff you can buy to bung into your rad that fixes small leaks,make sure you check that it`s suitable before you pay for it but it`ll cost you a few dollars so got to be worth a try.I take it you`ve checked all your hoses and fittings already for signs of wear/damage.

have checked all over, its going into the shop next week so they can have aa more indepth look. the owner of the shop raced a similar bike to mine so hopefully he may know something we don't.
