    Tyre dimensions for gsx400 Impulse?

    Hello,

for my Project a gsx400 Impulse, '88, GK71E I search the possibles of non Serial Tyres. Have somebody experience or can tell me until which Dimensions the Tyres can be fitted??

I thought about 120/60/17 Front, and 150/60/17 Rear. Is there enough Space to fit??

    Which Dimension can be fitted?

    Greetings from Germany - Thanks

I would have to check mine (it is in a box) but as I recall, the rear is 140. A 150 will fit but makes handling really strange. My memory may be wrong and it may be 150 and 160 respectively....
I will have a look tomorrow if I get time.

Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

I think i will change the Serial Tyres to 110/70 Front, and 150/70 Rear.

Could this made the Handling Strange?? In which way..??

For second these Combination is really Cheap in Germany.

    Thanks, bye

The 70 profile will alter your speedo reading, but otherwise shouldn't be a problem. But if your rear is supposed to be 130 then do not go up to 150. It will seriously upset the handing. When you least expect it, at a time when correct performance is critical.

    Handling with 150/70

Do you mean the Handling in the Corners / Curves??

I knew a strange Handling from my DR650RS modified with 120/60/17 Front, and 160/60/17 Rear! With this Combination the DR was only driven by hanging on Gas through the Cornes with speed, otherwise there was something like a Tumbling Point, where the DR became a great force to the ground. Only with Power she was driven through the Rest of the Curve....
    sometimes pure Adrenalin!

    bye

I think you will find your rear rim is slim for 150 and your choices are 140 or `130.
Remember when you stick a fat tyre on slim rim you just squeeze the walls in and turn the tyre into a vee shape.
This gives you quick lean in with large patch on ground at first then a reluctance to lean any further making your bike rubish to ride.
The vee shape will mean small patch on ground in sttaight line that will encourage fast wear and early death of tyre.
Also when you sqeeze a tyre it doesnt mean the extra 10mm will make the tyre 10mm wider to look at.
keep with the stock sizes or adapt bigger rear wheel and swingarm.

I had one of these about 15 years ago, I found difficult then to get a 130/80..could only get a Metzeler ME55 Metronic, was bloody good.

    Serial Tyres

As i don't know the Serial Handling, and just wann stay the Bike quiet near to the Original, i will fix 110/70 Front, and 140/70 Rear. Just because there iss more Assortement for Tyres in this Dimensions (Germany).

I dont, want to scratch my Knees....

I think also for the Rim the maximum iss 150mm.

    Thanks

Stick with the stock tyre sizes.

Michelin and Pirelli make perfectly good tyres in these sizes and they are avaialble in Germany.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
