This is a serious question because I have no idea why not many women like to ride! Most of the girls my age that I have met don't seem to think riding is all that cool.

Short answer would be not enough IMO.

Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that, who cares? ...He's a mile away and you've got his shoes

I don't fit those catergories either!

When I started riding a year ago I was really suprised to see the number of females riding, and how that has increased over the past year. Maybe the Southern chicks are more spirited! oh and we also have the best roads to ride too!

I don't have a problem with it as such, but it would be nice to chat to ladies every now and then up there or something!

Yup and you are the ladies I meant! And I totally aggree with the pink bike thing, don't worry that isn't what I meant! I just don't seem to see female riders up the top of the rimutakas or at a red light or something on the way into town. At University I have only seen two girls who ride bikes, one of them rides a Ninja250 and the other rides a cruiser 250 thing. That is out of HEEAAAAPPPPSS of riders.
I now understand where you are coming from ... I can't be bothered with the takas week in and out .. have other rides to do ... if you limit yourself to that sort of thinking that is the problem ... most woman who ride ... don't limit their imaginations to one little piece of road.

Every time boys bikers go trolling for girl bikers it turns into a crotch sniffing competition.

You've ruined it by bringing your Mum into it at the first post.

I must admit I have been surprised at how many chicks there seem to be on bikes out there now compared with when I first started riding there are heaps of them.

Ahem...It is not just the Southern lasses that are spirited you know I have been riding for over 30 years now, and know many females that ride bikes. We are not that rare a breed it seems. As far as categorising women goes, while I may own the odd thing from time to time, I am a bit of a girly girl and apart from work based qualifications the last time anyone gave me any training was when my mother took me out of diapers as a baby.
