    No snow right now

But I would expect the stream crossings at the top end will be marginal given the recent rainfall

We did this ride almost exactly a year ago on the way back from the brass monkey rally. I dont recall and stream crossings at all and there was no snow. I recon you will have no worries. Just keep an eye out for the rutted loose deep gravel at the MacKenzie Pass end (north of the Haka pass itself.

The Dunstan trail will be much more "fun" at this time of year given is has a clay surfacing, is higher and is further south.

There are two, just on the McKenzie side of the top of the pass.

Reccon the clay mud on the Dunstan will about 6" deep buy now given the rain.

not really much infos about this, but thanks for some little news,
I came some days ago the dunstan road, not bad with a fullll loadet klr,but mud is better than deep fjords crossing, when you alon, there was no snow more, only little bit on the side, but sometimes deep short mud,but ok.
I let you now whats happend when i finish this,in the next days, always hold your mirrows up,Fredontour.

Thw weather has been absolutely shocking. The worst May weather for a while down south. Lots of precipitation, both rain and snow. The old saying snow in May will not stay could well been totally wrong this year. My advice, have a plan B and plan C in case. I am sure you have anyway. But a high chance of usually high amounts of snow for this time of year. Good luck and take loads of winter warmers. You are gunna need it!
