WAR (hidden away in this thread for now)

Speakin' of which, are you planning on a W.A.R this summer?

I'm kinda torn with it. I may actually keep adv riding the RD04 and do this one up...will see.

As for a WAR, I was in Africa most of last year and in Aussie this year so I think my AT has had about 1500km since that fun-filled crash session in Waiouru in 2011. I am definitely ready for another WAR.

I am posted to Palmy end of 2013 so I should have 2-4 years there of solid riding and hopefully more ready access to the training area. I like small group sizes like we have been having so despite growing interest will probably keep it to the dedicated fans & regulars (whatever that may mean - but I need some way to keep it under control).

I thought I might also put more of an 'adventure' bent on it too and do something like a navigation circuit where those who are interested can take turns to be given a GPS coord (MGRS cos that's what the Army map is) and have to navigate the group there cross country - I'm thinking mostly out in the desert for this one. So we would definitely have a lot of sand km's to travel. It will get guys into using the GPS's as they are meant to be used and also get guys picking tracks / routes by eye. In my mind the sand and getting right out the back are the two highlights of the ride. I will also look into asking for Karioi forest access. That place is big and will give us access from the south up into the desert area (Zone 1). PM me if you have any ideas / recommendations from previous WARs.
There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.

...been here before but...my XLV 750 which has been sitting for five years in a shed needs an owner...it was put away a strong runner but now probably needs a fair bit of tlc to get her back on the trail...any offers will be considered...it has been personalized to some extent...

    Brand new RD07 carbs

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/honda-xrv7...item35ca4c5078

Rarer than a worm's armpit hair and very reasonably priced... but I have yet to come across an RD07 with mileage high enough to warrant new carbs.

Not back yet Padwan... Hope to be riding again by Xmas once I've settled in Palmy North.

Mint ones are closer to $10k...of which there are very few. Some very low K examples in the UK still on offer but they're commanding up around GBP 3-5000. I personally wouldn't want a mint one cos then I'd be afraid to ride it. AT's are like dirty girls and just need to be ridden hard.

Quick question relating to the little brother, my 1996 XL600V Transalp.

Went to replace the slide needle and seat but when we got in there the seat is not what was expected and no one including the local honda shop has been able to identify the part we need.
The jet needle (parts #20 and 21 on the exploded parts diagram) slides in to this tube and needle and seat (don't know what else to call it) both have wear.

Pic 3 is of the jet needle poking through the hole where the mystery tube was removed from.

Below pic is mystery bit next to the new "Holder, Needle Jet - part 23" item listed on the exploded view.

It's a real mystery to us, we even can't see it on the parts diagram.

Same for the AT, which is why i bought in a second hand carb set from Austria for a couple hundy bucks. I think its just a pressed in brass emulsion tube? I dont think its designed to be replaced..that said, I'm sure a clever dude somewhere could work a couple up. Mine are also ovalised from teh needle vibrations. Needles seem fine...I guess cos the brass is softer.
