Simply ring the cops with the information! Its as easy as that, they will take it seriously! You don't have to be the owner or do anything other than pass on the info you have. They will notify the owner via their compliant records and start an investigation on receiving stolen goods. Its as simple as that and it should be done now before someone notifies them of this thread and the bloody thing disappears. Do it now or PM me and I will call someone I know or give you her number, they need to go take possession of the bike now, as no one else has the authority to do so being unregistered.
These pricks need to be nailed and there is only one organisation that can do that!

Totally agree, someone needs to get to the bike before it disappears again.

Yes but there isn't a central database of un-road-registered bikes in NZ like there is for Road registered bikes. Ya dig?

Anyway, I'm surprised (and amused) that the original owner has not shown up at the shop yet

Gonna ask the seller a few innocent questions just to see what kind of yarn they can spin.

Well done you. You can say you've done something worthwhile today.

Be interesting to know the outcome - cos it's almost looking like Phil doesn't want the fucking thing back.

Well mate you've done your bit and good on ya!!
I must say I'm very disappointed in the cops approach! Why arn't they at the very least going out and taking names and making sure the bloody evidence doesn't disappear?
I can only think Phil didn't report it as stolen in the first place? If he did they have the original theft complaint and the whereabouts of the bike, they don't need him, why no action??
Better not be to hard on the cops till we find out the details, be interesting to find out, but good on you Barty, good spotting and follow up!!
