This seems wrong as we are insured with AMI in Takapuna, as the missus said above both quads are on contents and our 2 dirt bikes are insured for theft, fire etc and damage/theft when in transit. The dirt bikes are on a special policy just for them. The cost is $60 for 1 and $70 for the other.
My road bike is a few hundred and is on a road bike policy, much the same as a car.
I'm going to go in and see AMI in Taka.
We have all our insurance with AMI Takapuna - had cars, roadbike, contents & house with them prior to getting our dirtbikes. The quads are on contents because they're only 50cc. Our dirtbikes are on a Motorcycle Policy with Restricted Cover. AMI only have one sort of bike policy which is the basis then they put restrictions onto it.
It does depend who you talk to at any company though - some know different areas better.
When insuring the 1st quad we were firstly told it got its own policy - then we they asked for a drivers license number which obviously our kids don't have or need to ride it they took it to the manager who said it goes onto contents.
Jst thawt we also brought a JR50 which i think is on the contents - must phone & check i did infact add it on
Basicly most H and C policies will replace any bike that is 50cc or smaller.
After my er recent "loss" My yard policy now specifically covers trail bikes for theft whilst in the yard and whilst being transported
BUT I must keep an up to fdate list of chasis numbers
Mind you my insurance costs me $5000 a year
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?
We were with AMI they covered any bike less than 100cc on the house contents policy. cost nothing extra just needed to be added on so they knew. Only found out when we got them knicked though. So they only gave us money for the 100 ( after proving to them its actually less than 100cc i.e 99.7!) 85 and 70. Funny how they cover a 2 smoker 85 at twice the expense of the 100 4 stroke.
I have now got my insured with star insurance. 5 bikes 250, 200, 2no.85s and a 100 for fire and theft for $785.00 thought that was reasonable. It includes theft while on trailer or anywhere else for that matter.
You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.
And now a third thing a bloody big gun to shoot theives with!
Peace of mind.. going with an insurance company that knows motorbikes as opposed to one that doesn't.
Just ends in tears at the end of the day when they don't pay out through a loop hole.
Better to spend the extra with people that talk the same language as us, as opposed to somebody just wanting to take your coin.
