Buying a brand new bike

I'm looking at getting my brand new Street Triple R in about mid July, can't wait! I've been saving up hard and doing alot of overtime and being a billy no mates staying in at the weekend's killing zombies on the X-box.
As a result of my anti-social endeavours, I will be in a position to hand over the full asking price of the bike in cold hard cash.....nice.
I would like to know if anyone else has negotiated a deal of sorts and what I should ask for. For example, get gear thrown in or knock some money off the price, which is 6200 of the quids..
Any thoughts greatfully appreciated!

IMO - The old fashioned method is always the best one. If you want something enough save hard and then it will be yours. Well done mate.

If you are looking to take delivery in July that is a really slow time for bike shops. To get the best deal on the bike, you need to contact all of the Triumph dealers (Isle of Man eh?) to find out which ones will give you the very best deal. Of course if you are actually in the Isle of Man, then that is mid summer and you will probably need to be put on a waiting list

But seriously, I found that there was a huge price difference across the country. The Southern dealers were far more willing to drop the price and taking a couple iof days off for a serious run in ride is not such a bad idea.

You will not get that much off with cash as the dealers would rather sell it via finance (they get more). You are better off getting the dealer on side to get discounts in the future.

I'm not sure what the buying market is like in the UK now.. but when I last chatted to my (bike salesman) mate, he was knocking all bikes out at cost plus OTR, just to get them out the door. The dealership's aim was to meet the manufacturers target, and thus get their bonus, rather than make just a couple of hundred quid on each bike sold.

The margins aren't that high right now.. McDuck is right.. they make their money on the finance, rather than the sale.

I negotiated a pretty mean deal on my Street Triple (Classic) but that's all to do with timing and the dealer's situation I believe. I say shop around and don't be shy about letting dealers know that you are doing just that and that you are looking for their best cash price.

If it's your intention to purchase extras on the day, negotiate a % discount on these also, and let your dealer know that you'll be spending any savings made on the bike on extras.

Definitely shop around. Make a list of any gear or accessories that you want as you'll never get them cheaper than when you're doing a deal on a new bike.
