Started on a 50cc suzi , slow ,slow, and always slow.
progressed to a 125 suzi, bit better......
Then foolishly bought a 380cc suzi tripple, damb center cylinder alway gave problems, but when it did go it was fun.
left bikes alone for a while...till...
I was given a 500cc Triumph Adventurer, after rideing it twice, rebuilt the motor and sold it. ( heap of oil dropping crap!)
Borrowed a Bonnie. never had a problem with it over the three years I had the use of it.
    Got married
Bought my first new bikw, A 84 Harley Sportster 1100. Loved that bike, wish I still had it ....but.....
Wife decided to go play with another gear stick, end of the HD
Several years later got my XS1100 Yamaha.
I still have to get my Licence.
In the years that I have been riding I have only had two, yes two tickets for riding with the wrong class of Licence and ONE speeding ticket.
I started riding when I was 13, nearly 40 years ago.
But, and yes BUT, in todays enviroment on the roard, and the profiliation of TAX COLLECTORS, in their Gov provided Police cars, I think I need to get my licence......so
I am going to buy a 225 Yammy scorpio.
    mmmmmmmm

Why bother with that 250 crap - 400 also doesnt show properly how big your winky is. ZX10 is what real men ride. Are you a real man malc0lm ?

It depends on what your reason is for skipping the 250 stage. If it's because you're poor and a 400cc bike in good condition is dirt cheap, go for it. But if you want "more power" then probably not a good idea.

Just started on a 650 Savage (got to love exemptions)
(but to be honest a 250 sportsbike would eat a savage)
