Congrats mate, fantastic news. I am sure you will already have nocited that bikes are a great deal more powerful than they used to be, but then again they also handle the high power a lot better.
Enjoy and live it to the full.

congratulations on your return to two wheels, yeh me too after about 25 years, went straight to a 86 GL1200 goldwing which raised a couple of eyebrows, and I gotta admit, few of my own for the first few days.
talk about rusty!!
but the feeling is back albeit a bit slower,, 63 years young and loving every minute of it!
good luck with your ride.
cheers wingnutt
Thanks for the welcome. It was actually my partner who suggested that I get one after my constant drooling over bikes passing us by on those fantastic summer days. Too bad that I got a call from my ex wife only days lafter buying it to state how irresponsible I was and all the usual " you will kill yourself on it" crap. I felt like I was 17 yrs old again when I disobeyed Ma and Pa and bought a bike...a GT185. Smoothed over that one by saying that I would learn to ride at the Coca Cola riding school that used to be run at Western Springs. The ex wasn't so easy to pacify as she said I was a bad roll model for my 18 yr old who wants a bike too. Needless to say she received an appropriate reply involving sex and travel.
I've done 2 bitumen inspections years ago. One down George Bolt drive, towards the airport, when some twat decided to do a u turn in front of me as I was overtaking a car 2 slots back. Braked hard and the front let go on a cats eye. I can remember being on my arse spinning around and on each revolution thinking shit there goes an indicator then there goes the fairing etc. Managed to patch me and the bike up.
The second was riding back from Ardmore and fanging my mates Kawi 400 thru some twisties. 3/4 of the way around a corner I collected an opposite direction car that had stopped beside a milk truck for a chat (moron). The bike became a hood ornament whilst I went for brief space walk and then checked out a farmers 7 strand fence to make sure it was tensioned correctly. Got up and then tried to pull the bike out of the front of the car. Funny thing is my mate who was on my bike and just behind me missed the car but took his bike with him to check out a different stretch of the fence.
I haven't got anything to prove so will just be taking it easy except for the odd squirt or when I see a twisty road sign....but hey isn't that why we ride?
To be old and wise you first have to be young a stupid....think I'm somewhere in between.
Happy riding.
I follow the 50/50/90 rule.
Anytime I have a 50/50 chance of getting it right there is a 90% probability I will get it wrong
That's why she's an ex??
