[QUOTE=awa355;1130196982]The road from Whangamomona to Stratford was fantastic. The river rd to the junction with the Ohura leg is fairly rough in places.

At the top of the Whangamomona saddle to your right ( heading to Startford ) turn off onto Junction Road & follow the Waitara river AWESOME !!!
I Used to jog but the ice cubes kept falling out of my glass

I remember passing the Junction rd sign. NOW you tell me!!! Will go back that way in the next couple of weeks. Maybe circle around the Whanganui area. There is a neat ride through the back roads from Whang.. to Hunterville.

Just past KEOWN HONDA is the turn off to Fordell which leads you on to Hunterville, also if you head North to Ohingati @ 150mtrs past the pub is a turn off that leads you along the Rangitiki river through to Kimbolton where you can turn off at Charleston ?? & head up through Vinegar hill Roll on INSOMNIA'S XMAS DAY LOOP !!!!

PS I dont think Junction road is really suitable for a cruiser, I just managed with Scooter but a awesome piece of country none the less !!

I'll probably ride somewhere tomorrow but it will be early since I have...ahem...things to do mid-morning. IYKWIM. Then have to go to d'Auckland in the pm. Thought I might pootle over to Kawhia maybe - haven't done that road for ages. Need to be back about 10.00am or so.

Sounds good. Trouble is i always stay up far too late and i don't wake up until 10am

Early start could be good though. Had 5am start Friday, Saturday and going to have one Monday so why not Sunday as well

    You normally leave 7ish?

If you sort out the good from the crap this thread has some good pointers

If anyone is planning to go out to kawhia there is some road works here and there, they are resealing the road a km or 2 before kawhia township and its one lane just before the quarry where there has been a washout(i think its been there for a while) its all pretty well sign posted. couple of other spots here and there, even with the wind it was a good ride.

Came through Wharepapa sth today. Lots of new seal and loose chips on the corners leading up the hill to the shop. Also on the Kihikihi - Parewera rd.
