It *is* only a colour, you know. Why do you care about it?

Then again, I guess I'm spoiled. *My* first bike had the Telefonica racing colours, which made it at least 20% faster.

Pink stripes, however... well, you lose about 5bhp right there.

Dunno, but it's not as pretty as blue.

There was a blue 636 parked up in Takapuna yesterday lunchtime.

    It were booty-licious.

An angle grinder might be a tad overkill, but hey, could be wrong. It's your bike! Hell, while we're at it, stick some neons on and stuff..
With Spanks permission, could even 'ghost' effect the KB logo on the farings.. or 'ghost' flames on the side or anything else you can think of.. Might only be a 150, doesn't mean you can't have fun doin it! Just don't bin it afterwards!

We can cover my garage in newspaper and just go nuts.. won't be a problem
Ohhh Im geting all excited now.
some KB logo 'ghosted' would be cool. Im not 100% sure I know exactly what ghosting is but I assume its like those logo's that are only visable sometimes.

Im not so hot on the flames idea though (no pun intended)

the chameleon stuff, does it have err, tints? make it more likey to be a blueish color than a greenish color? Im gonna shoot over to repco at 12:30 have a looky

check out my idea, I have just done a crappy job with paint cos im in a hurry

then again. I dunno If spankme would like a L plate'r to be sporting the logo. ill PM him I suppose.

If I ever did want to get rid of the bike I could gift it to the KB community I suppose.

nah, see I reckon most other bikes in blue just look too much like Yamas.. Blue is their colour, leave it people! I was riding up with Swanny and ScooterBoy the other night. Swanny on his R1 and SB on his ZX10. Both blue. The ZX could have been mistaken for the R1 at a glance.. Same with the 636 in blue. Bet you had to look twice when you realised it wasn't an R6 or something.. I don't want to blend.. I want to shout!
Orange kicks ass. period. Only on my bike tho, little else..

dude, you've got too much time to burn at work!
Yeah, the ghost effect is when you can see something, but only at a certain angle. Tad tricky to do, but a few ways to do it, so have to play around to see what works the best.

The paint is as-is. You put it on, the sun and angle of the bike does the rest. From a head-on view of the panel, it might be brown, but then as you move round, it might go green, then purple, then blue sort of thing.. It's something to do with the flakes in the paint. As it reflects the light, it shows different. So bearing that in mind, you have to spray all the panels in the same directions, else some bits will show off different to others.. unless you want that. But by taking that into account, you can do the ghosting effect with it too..

there's always this thread for stickers too

you dont sound so keen on blue. what about mixing the blue's maybe light blue at the front with dark at the back and maybe even a really light spray of the chamelon over the top so it has that effect althou not to such an extent.

    uggh a brown bike.

it might not be 'brown' persay, it's just how the colour is applied. It could look purple, until you move, then it'll change colour.. They spray the can lids with the paint, so have a look when you get to Repco, if you go..

I don't have a problem with blue, not at all. I just think Yama has done good in making the R bikes stand out with their blue. Other similar styled bike would be mistaken for yamas, but I don't think that'd be your case, truth be told.. no offence

If you want to do blue, then yeah, go for it.. Metalics always look nicer than solids, in my opinion, so may be look at that too.. Just go down to the shop and see what colour(s) stand out. End of the day, it's your money, your idea, your bike, so will all due respect, you do what you want.. I'm all up for helping tho.. I love dossing around spraying up stuff.. Haven't had a project to help on for ages

Ok I got frekin lost on the way there. I only get 1/2 hour so buy the time I got there I had to come back. I had a quick squiz and I couldnt see those 3 packs you mentioned.

lots of primers and laquers etc. and some small bottles of the nice metalic paint. I saw a nice one, I think it was carribeann blue

    really hard to find examples
    http://www.affordablespas.com/colors.shtml
has a granite version of it.
    *edit dont bother

Im not sure if that variant of blue is going to be, vivid? enough. its a bit too average. I want something that really stands out without being really expensive or ghey looking.

*edit Im wondering what kind of budget I need to set up for this.
my other 2 projects are kinda taking all my money at the moment so Im looking at $50 or less to get it started. least until 15th of April (stupid monthly pay)

    sux you got lost..
As for how much it'll all cost, well that's down to you. I'm not sure on prices of paint, but you'll probably need (at a guess) 3 cans of primer (may be one filler primer, 2 regular) 3 cans of the colour, and 3 cans of laquer. Was thinking about more on it, you've got the tank etc too, so 3 would probably be about right..

And the colours will look different when it's on the bike. Most of the colours will look a tad dull in the shop, but it's a different story when it's on the bike and in the sun.. Head back when you get more time after work etc, and have a proper look. Which store did you/are you going to? I'm in town after work today, gotta go to Mt Eden bikes, then over to St Lukes, so could catch up somewhere if you like.. Grey Lynn Repco or something?

didn't know they shut at 5.30.. won't make that then. Might be able to make NL or Kelston if you want.. But don't know at the mo. I have no idea how long I'll be at Mt Eden or St Lukes.. can't see it being hours tho, so there's a 75% chance I can make it before 7. text me later 021 234 7744 if you wanna catch up..

as for 3 cans per layer, well you've got 3 processes to make it work, and you've got to look at how much area you have to cover.. Break it down a little, plus the area a can will cover equally and fully, it starts to add up.. Could do it faring by faring.. spread the cost and time

6 or there abouts should work for me.. Isn't there a Repco near St Lukes? Can't remember now.. Either way, catch ya around there. Might be a little after 6, but I'll be around somewhere. Bike is usually parked in the middle level car park near where they keep their golf-cart thingies (and no, you can't play on them - I've asked..)

cool Ill see if I cant park near there.
    repco =
    Whangaparaoa 663 Whangaparaoa Rd
    North Shore 79-81 Wairau Rd
Grey Lynn 285 Gt North Rd
Henderson Cnr Central Park Dr & Winston Pl
    Kelston 4085 Great North Rd
    New Lynn 9 Clark St
    Greenlane 137 Great South Rd

    Onehunga 51 Princes St
The Hub 451 Ti Rakau Drive, Botany
Mt Wellington 510 Mt Wellington Highway

    Takanini 230 Great South Rd
    Westgate 11 Fernhill Rd
Manurewa Unit 2, 11 Weymouth Rd
    Glen Innes 141 Aparana Avenue

I dont know the area as much as I would like to but I reckon New Lynn would be the closest. might be a bit further out than you might like to go I dont know. New Lynn does seem kind of small though

Super Cheap Auto is a little further and open later. I would expect them to have the same stuff. and from the look of the outside of the store they look a bit bigger too.

What about a normal hardware store? would they have the right kind of primer etc. I dont know if normal primer would be suitable for both metal and plastic. I spose it would be going onto a painted surface anyway.

I still haevnt heard back from spank me re logo's etc
