Speed limiters in NSW

This idea is fucking stupid. Not only would everyone driving become more of a zomie, the pol pol would also lose a lot of revenue (if there was a way that it could actually work), but it won't:

In cases of emergency there is an override system whereby the driver can either flick a switch or floor the accelerator to disable the safety device and put the car back in manual control.

This feature alone means it won't work. If I wanna go fast, I turn the fucker off.

Also don't a lot of cars allready have a 'warning' light/buzzer, ones from china/japan anyway?
My bike's got a "speed" light, dunno what it does though coz there's no bulb

If you approach it from a 'cruise control' angle it's not so bad. Perfect as I am I may have missed a speed sign once.

I would actually like that feature if it was user programmable. Maybe let me set it to allow up to 5kph over the limit then only go faster if I open the throttle fully or push a button. Of course I would want to be able to turn this feature on/off at my discretion. It could save me speeding tickets and for that it would be very worthwhile.

I also agree - if it is government mandated and always turned on then it can fuck right off!

my 1990 car has a programeable "limit" feature that Beeps at a preprogrammed speed..I think this is a silly idea.Imagine being at the head of a queue of cars behind a slow truck when you come to a uphill passing lane.

Why would it be a problem? Just hit the overide and go for it. Besides which - a slow truck uphill could be swiftly passed without even needing to exceed the speed limit.
