So if less recruits get in because they do not pass all aspects of training then I guess there would be less Police so we get back to the same old bash that the Police do not attend to crimes because of lack of resources.

The real test of how good a Police officer is surely comes when they start doing the job, not how fit they are.

The Police need more skills than doing a run test or passing a physical test..........maybe we need more 'Thinkers' than 'Gorilla's' in the Police force....I mean you could have some geezer who passes the test with flying colours, you know, 1,000 push ups, 10k's in 10 minutes but he is a crap cop, exactly the kind you will complain about whereas the Police bashers are always complaining that some cops don't use discretion.............
Let's face it, The Police have a job that may place them in the face of some very serious Danger. Their Physical attribute may be the difference between life and death. Therefore - Physicality has a real importance and should be promoted, the standards should not be lowered for their own sake.

In saying that, maybe Sarahs new physical attributes may result in less aggressive behaviour towards him/her? Makes one think!

Is lowering the standard the only way to combat the drop in recruiting?
Why not maintain the standard, pay better and provide a better renumeration package?

'Serious Danger'......more pay etc.....mmmm....are you in advertising...........

There has to be a balance.....even a pyhsically fit cop may not be upto dealing with a physco......like that guy a few years ago with a machette and the Police shot him.............strong trigger finger??

We have Counsellors, Social Workers who work with criminals, trouble people yet we expect the Police to provide the physical stuff......it seems to me that a passive cop is better than an aggressive cop......especially in this PC world......

I finally realised we had some half decent cops in this country when I heard about that New Plymouth incident.

Mate, I'd love to shake the hand of that police officer that shot that dude.

    Actually, no I wouldn't - In case it's Sarah.

We need alot more hard-line approach. We need a few South African cops in this country.

I'd say understanding is central to this issue. i.e. know someone and understand them before you judge them. So who's lacking in understanding Dafe?

This officer isn't out there causing harm to other members of society, unlike thieves murderers and rapists. Rather, she is doing her part to protect the peace in our community. Thats very admirable.

What's more admirable is that she has found a way to be comfortable in her own skin AND return to the police force. No doubt she will face judgment and rejection from many of her colleagues. A little understanding and compassion for another human being would go a long way.

This country is too PC. The police did a fine job.

Look at overseas approaches, there's no questioning the outcome overseas.
Thats how it should be here.

Sarahs physicality is the same as it was before the op.

A bit more ballast in the front, and a little less in the garage, but essentially the same strength, level of fitness etc...

How the hell is this Labours fault? Did they legislate that she should have her tackle snipped?

As I've clearly indicated previously, this thread is actually about the Standards of the Police Force. Thats the bigger picture here.

Perhaps you lack this understanding and have jumped to conclusions far too quickly?

Labour policies are the drive behind NZ's political correctness.
A socialist government that is not clever in the way it deceives, it is infact aided by the fact that the average New Zealander sees/accepts only whats
    on the surface.

How could you not even piece together the relationship??? OMG!

New Zealand's brain drain is really quite bad. The educated are - Sparsely here it would seem.

I actually couldn't give a hoot if Sarah was my nextdoor neighbour.

However, If the Police Comissioner lived next door, that would be a different story - I'd actually talk to him!

Labour is not a socialist Government. Those that claim that it is have no undestanding of socialism. This Government operates under the umbrella of market forces. It applies legislation as a counter ballance to those that are most vunerable to it. That is not socialism.

As for New Zealanders only seeing what's on the surface I can only comment that you seem to have your head buried in the sand. In balance Kiwis are very well informed. Even those that oppose my views but there is an arrogance that you have a superior intellect than the rest of us.

I was waiting for somebody to say just that!

For that statement alone would point to the biggest fool of all!

Now, your mission if you have any balls...... Is to ring Radio Pacific talkback in the morning, and tell John Banks and the members of the political listening nation that Labour is not a Socialist Government.

Honestly, I couldn't dream of hearing anything funnier!

I failed 5th form school C English, 6th form English - The school wouldn't permit me to do 7th form.
My 5th form maths teacher fought to prevent me sitting SC Maths because I couldn't better than %20 in my dummy run tests.
I've failed biology, chemistry, french miserably. Too dumb to consider calculous - Couldn't even figure out how to spell it!
I went to polytech, failed that and left early to work as a furniture remover.

And somebody here thinks I'm displaying some form of intellect?

Fook me - There's someone here that's dumber than me!
