The ultimate bucket would have to be the Hyosung GT 125, a bit heavy, but a nice little 125 cc V-Twin engine that will pull to 110 kmp/h with stock gearing will do fine on a small track such as Mount Wellington. Change the gearng to have the bike top out at 70 kmp/h - would pull more than a school boy!

    Specifications

Gimme any Chinese bike, a shed, and about 1 week to fix everything that people disapprove about them. While the build quality isnt the greatest, its not impossible to have it all perfected with a bit of elbow grease. Shit, every bike i have every owned has taken at least 100-200 hours of my time to fix imperfections.
I think some people just find it too easy to mock other things they don't understand.

Thailand makes way better bikes at present.
The bike at the start of this thead, would probably, need frame welding & gearbox repair, between races.
#Also Cbr150 is watercooled an Fxr150 is not.
Fxr is rated as having more power, but cbr may have similar and better potential, not alot of them here .

Bikes made in Thailand are not bikes made BY Thailand. Arent they just a Japanese factory IN Thailand?!
As someone said, the Chinese will get better. When I was a kid people used to say Jap Crap. Dont really hear that now regarding Japanese quality.

150 Kg approximate weight, could be reduced by 20 - 30 KG easily.
    5 Speed Gear box
Front and Rear Disc Brakes, or you could put twin discs on the front easily as there are already mounts.
150 Rear and 110 Front tyres

Hey guys really, we need to look at other avenues for bucket racer motors, as the older bikes are getting harder and harder to get. Then, if you need parts, it gets worse.
Is the Hyosung motor reliable? If so can it be put it into an another bike frame? Maybe an RS frame?
Everything I have read about these bikes seems to point to the fact that perfomance of the motorbike is good. The issue is usually with the components that make up the rest of the bike. They dont last very long.

Lifan also have a good road bike that has a 125 V-twin motor. Honda bought out a CB125T in 2001, built in China. I know where in China they were made. I have done heaps of searching but cant find one of these bikes anywhere.
Anybody got any ideas? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

It's just a matter of servicing them properly (just doing what needs doing, nothing fancy) and making modifications that have already been documented by other owners on many of the Hyosung forums emerging through the Internet.

    • Air filter
    • Spark plugs
    • Re-jet
    • Exhuast
    • Gearing
    • Fork Oil/Spring
    • CDI

Just to name a few quick and simple modifications that have been well documented.
