    don't be daft
a wafer-thin 7 year old can fidget and lounge around in that seat during the flight and get the benefit of all that space

a luxury a normal-sized person definately DOESN't have if they are seated next to a porker [in fact, they'd be lucky to be able to even BREATH in that situation methinks .......]

    i've an idea
let's sit all those people that the pc contingent want us submerged by NEXT TO EACH OTHER and let them fight it out between themselves .....winner gets to occupy the entire row and the vanquished are stacked in the hold for ballast

... now i'd like to see THAT

Breasts also contain adipose tissue, though, and they do grow and shrink somewhat as the woman in question gains and loses fat. I've certainly seen it happen.

The glands in question are mostly quiescent when not suffused with milk and do not take up anywhere near as much space as the fat in breast tissue.

Gynecomastia demonstrates nicely just how little.

New bike illustration has missed me. Sorry....I mean you see a bike when you buy it so why would you by bike with the rear wheel missing.....you don't know who you will sit next to when you buy a plane ticket.

And no I have not had a lobotomy..what's it like?
I've learnt a valuable lesson today. Don't argue with some one who believes they have god on their side.

The FTO gene racial breakdown provides a far better explanation of why people ARE fat than the actual make of their genotype. Western Europeans are fat because they have a greater flexibility in dietary chocies and ALL humans are predisposed to consuming sweet, salty and fatty foods because you need them help store fat for Winter.

People from climates with less extremes in seasonal change tend to be less fatty, but look at SE Asia and China now that "Western" lard franchises are taking over the traditional foods. You don't need the FTO gene to be obese.

A gene that is present in obese people does not mean that the people with that gene have to be obese. That gene shows up in "racial sub-types" who are exposed to vicious winters where food is scarce and energy requirements are high. Yes natural selection influences the survival of people with that gene, but people with that gene are fat because of the food choices made for them in early childhood.

People who are fat are not fat because of their genes. They are fat because they eat more food than their metobolism can process, so they store it for Winter. The only people who do not have control over their weight because of genetic reasons have damaged DNA.

Cobblers. Like most things in life we have a choice about the amount and content of our diets (and yes you can make good choices on a lower income) and whether or not we exercise. I am overweight because I CHOSE to eat crappy food and do no exercise, similarly I am now making different choices in these directions - my life, my responsibility.
There are a number of genetic predeterminers to body size and shape but such predeterminers for obesity are clinically quite rare.
I have just returned from a medical trade show and conference in the USA and as usual am stunned by the numbers of very obese people I see, especially in California.
Sad thing is the number of young people already grossly overweight. But then look at the size and content of their diet and you can see why.

Jonah's not fat, hes a big guy for sure.
I doubt he would have fat bulging over your arm rest. His shoulders might be a problem.
If you complain, then in most cases they will move you. If they don't, then tell them to get fucked. Easy really.
Stick up for yourselves in these situations. You're right as a paying passenger.

Guys, I think we are on the right track here. But why stop at obese people? Why the hell should we accommodate disabled people? Can you imagine how many motorcycles can you park on one disabled parking space? Let's abolish disabled parking! After all, disabled people became disabled by lifestyle choice - participation in dangerous activities such as riding motorcycles. We seem to be supporting rights of disabled people to lead the semblance of normal lives (such as paying the same price for parking even though their vehicle occupies twice as much space) just because one day we may need it? For crying out loud, am I the only one seeing a hint of hypocrisy here?
P.S. Regarding obesity not having anything to do with genetics:
the fact that pacific islanders have the highest population of obese people in the world absolutely has everything to do with their unhealthy lifestyle and/or racial stereotypes. [/sarcasm]

EDITED: --- I apologize to the party injured by this post (you know who am I talking about). Being hypocrite hurts. Being exposed as a hypocrite hurts tenfold. Having to cowardly resort to throwing around red rep dots instead of openly expressing your opinion must be really painful.
Giving red rep because of missing the whole point of the post must be maddening as hell :-)
