Mmn, that just about sums up me too! I was the skinny little white kid in a school with an 80% Maori population, and they didn't believe in streaming. That meant I pretty much kept my head down and didn't say boo to a goose (how appropriate, considering what I ride now!) because if I did, I'd have the crap beaten out of me later for making them look dumb!
I used to draw spot-on caricatures of the teachers which got me into trouble more than once. In the sixth form I changed schools and really enjoyed the new one so I did quite well. Unfortunately in the seventh form a guy I fancied had study when I had art history so I would wag and play cards with him in the common room! My 'friends' would point out my absence to our ancient art teacher, who would glance around the room and say "no, I am sure she was here before, I'll mark her here on the roll". They were so pissed off! Mind you, if I had done a tiny bit more work, I would have passed Bursary art history instead of getting 49%!
I'm not sure what they would have voted me most likely at school, but probably something to do with talking as I was always being told off for talking in class in the sixth and seventh forms. And what do I do for a living? I'm a journalist, so maybe they were right!
I've done some university study since and because I am paying for it, I make sure I do enough to pass!
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!
