Does anyone know where I can get one of those wire cage humane traps - rat sized?

One of the little bastards thinks our roof space makes a great place to get out of the cold. The cat got his two mates, so now he jumps from next doors tree onto the roof and crawls under the eves.

Can't block the holes, trim the tree or otherwise stop him getting in. Don't want to put poison down in case he crawls under the insulation and rots slowly - he'd be a bugger to find even dead.

I've tried spring-loaded traps with stuff-all success, even in different positions and with different bait.

So what I'm thinking is one of the cage ones - he strolls in to check it out, and finds he can't get back out. Then I chuck it in a bucket of water and laugh while he drowns.

So where can I get one?

    Cool Many years ago...

I lived in an ould dump with heaps of places for mouse to get in. I got sick of having the little fu...rs coming in to eat what little I had in my cupboards and leaving their shit everywhere (and I hate cats!), so I built an "Electric Mouse Executioner".

Quite simple and very effective. U have a round steel plate diameter about 8cm. You have another one diameter about 20 cm. You connect a wire to each one. Then U place the 8cm one on top of the 20cm one and between them U place a 9cm diameter cut out of a ice cream container lid. Now U place something they like in middle of the 8cm one. Then U connect the two wires to 230AC.

Then when the mice stands with back legs on the 20cm steel plate and reaches over to the 8cm one with it's front legs U will have electrocuted mice galore. And by using a 10 - 15 A multi plug box you will not blow the fuse in the electric cabinet.

The only draw back is the BBQ smell...

May the bridges I burn light the way.

    Wink No Heath Robinson sorry.

Just think that electrocution is under-rated as a solution to todays probems. ;-)

i once woke up and saw a rat on the floor in the middle of the room! i sconned it with the bedside clock and then put a bin over it and went to find the cat.
i shit you not it was pretty dam funny locking the two animals into the same room(untill the cat got exited and nailed it)

    electrocution is fun!

i however prefer to put said victim into a fertiliser sack and tie the end over the exaust pipe and leave the car running for 20 minutes, worked fine for stray cats/possums when i lived on the farm.

Well, the standard mouse trap is crap... but the 'better mouse trap' (plastic with a spring - works very well. Between that and the cats (who finally got the idea)

My lovely home is mouse free.

Thanks for all the good and also amusing suggestions.

Have not read all the posts on this but I'd stop feeding the cats. Keep them outside for a few days also.

I'm serious on this. Any animal that is too well fed will not hunt. take away its tucker and just watch the change.
