Introducing 'Filthy Lil'

Well over the weekend I scored this old girl cheaply

She's a 86' GSX750ES with 21259km on the clock (going by the wear on the brake discs & a couple of other bits it could be genuine).

Got delivered to work today and is now sitting here at home waiting to be turfed into the shed ready for a pretty extensive gutting/restoration

Not 100% sure what I'll do with her yet but will access options once I've opened her up & see what's what

Fingers have been getting itchy wanting something to tinker with instead of playing with new stuff all the time at work

Don't know if I'll go as far as what I did with the ZXR but who knows

Shouldn't be a problem

Got that far with the ZXR so this shouldn't cause any issues getting to the same stage

Right so far have been going over bits & pieces and at the moment;

All the electrics work apart from the front brake light switch. The tyres have plenty of tread but have basically turned to plastic, rear brake pads are at the end of their life. The chain is healthy albeit in dire need of a damn good clean & lube, wheel bearings & headstock bearings are firm & smooth, the swingarm linkages have the expected amount of play. Clutch & throttle cables are smooth and have plenty of adjustment left in them, brake lines are healthy though the fluid looks munted.

So Saturday morning it's strip the bodywork & exhaust off and into the shed she goes to be gutted out

Awsome mate.........good motor in em.........if mine i would lose all the bullshit then find some bars with a bit of leverage.......must be a few zuki bits will bolt straight up and a racin we do go.........keep us posted on progress eh.

yeah I've got a few ideas rattling around in the old swede at the moment

So once I get stuck into her god knows what will end up happening when it sees daylight again

Wont set the world on fire but it'll be interesting to say the least

Though all apart from the ZXR, all the others I've done I've tended to get them as close as possible to original without being pedantic. So will gauge this one once she's opened up but it'll get some soup before it hits the road again

nice bike. I had a loan GSX550E for a while and that was fun to comutte on in its own way. It did drink a fair bit of gas and the motor had been around the clock.

The bodywork certainly shows some kinship with my XN.

Hope to see it 'in the flesh' when you've gussied up the old tart!

have you seen how many blue buggers there are, lols think if it does get attacked with paint it'll be something subtle but with presence

yeah it isn't to bad, basically the same rolling chassis as a SE katana which I'm pretty familiar with and spent time with a 1100ET so this shouldn't be to much of a bother to get sorted out.
A friend scored a GSX550EF a few years back that he got me to sort out for him. It wasn't a bad wee bike though a bit on the heavy side but all in all a pretty useful allrounder.

Gave Filthy a fright today

Turfed her in the shed a couple of days ago and started removing all the bodywork so I could get at things.

Opened her up a bit more today so I can get at the wiring loom and remove it. but also took the carbs off and disassembled them

more crud than I'd seen in a long time, it's a wonder she ran at all.
So their in for a bath tomorrow at work and a good cleaning
