You could maybe point out a couple of those chicks to me perhaps....? Just so I'd know which ones to avoid you understand....
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

But I wonder where the instructions to call up the image are hidden then.
It would need a line of code with the url near the smilie - something that says (tag) a href url http://www.leso-image.jpg (/tag)

can you view source code like you can on a browser?

how many of you tried to open this link.......

Oh fark, did almost exactly the same thing with a smiley in my race report. Spankme needs to change this, it aint funny having porn on your blog as a result. Put up a huge motorcycle or something instead.

I know that. The worst thing is when you preview your own page it appears fine and then obviously spank's host's hotlinking software kicks in a few days later and the little smiley men turn into lesbians. Any will do

This is extremely common practice for web server admins who're sick of their bandwitdh being stolen. Always host your own pics. A friend of mnie used a random system that generally only gave duck pictures back, but with the occasional goatse pic thrown in now and then for laughs.

The bottom line is though, stealing bandwith is bad mmmkay.

FFS, nobody intends to steal bandwidth when they post a smiley. I'd assumed it was my "own" webserver's smiley and that it had cut n' pasted " :-)" or ":smiley" or something instead of
    img src="http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/images/smilies/yes.gif" title="Yes" class="inlineimg" border="0"

Pretty wank to put up porn for hotlinking. Goats, small children, helen clark, satan or whatever is fine but for some reason peeps can get upset about pron.

That people are ignorant about the fact that they're stealing bandwidth is why the server admins have to resort to things like this. Otherwise that smiley will get forwarded about maybe a million times, slowing up the hosting server, and eating away at their (costly) bandwidth. And not goats, goatse (not even close to work safe).
