I thought the AGM was very subdued considering all the stuff that has been on this and other web sites.
A lot of clubs didn't have a delegate there.

    Not many it apparently....
The very low number of members who vote (or even care what happens) is not unusal from my and my wifes experiences of being involved in clubs. I believe the vast majority of members of mnz are only members because they HAVE to be to compete in motorcycle events - that's reality.

I'll even fess up and state that I have't taken an interest myself up until recently - and I got my first race licence (for mx) in 1974 BUT it's not too late to change

I wonder how different the #'s might be if they included a postage paid return envelope?
Make it easy and free and lazy people may bother to vote.

I know there are many on here who DO some thing, and that is probally the total of the votes
Shaun, I was there and not not many that said they were going to be there bothered to turn up, I think you will find that that most still didn't vote and will still be equally audable when the new rules don't suit their agends. You know I am right!
That said, what is done is done and now it remains to be seen if Jim can keep himself in check and work for the good of the sport!
Lastly, Trevor Heaphy resigned immediatly post vote count! Don't lets all jump and down just yet as I see this as being just the start of a war noone is going win, personality and emotion are to the fore now!

Thats possibly a bit harsh Shaun. Most club racers dont have a clue who the people at MNZ are or what they stand for , and they dont even know what MNZ actually offers to them apart from a race licence.
Thats not ignorance either , its a result of a totally pathetic , badly promoted governing body that takes money from members every year and tells them unless they pay they cant race.
We are all to blame i guess for not getting involved but really , the only people that most races want to contact are comittee members of the club that runs the series they race in. MNZ NEVER gets off its ass and comes to any club series i have ever been to and had a tent with a few officials to explain what they do and how they help , organise etc events for ANY racer. Maybe if they did do that a few more respectfull comments would be directed at them.
To say general races winge and moan is really unfair if the organisation asking for support hides behind a name and a box number in Huntly.

There is a challenge for Mr Tuckerman. Come see the races at the track and talk to the masses at the coal face. Not just the " A " listers , the whole lot of us.

    Paul.

I agree. Other than having to get a licence and providing some administration, MNZ does nothing for my racing. "My" racing is local club stuff. I help out at the local club to bang in pegs at motocross tracks or marshalling at club road racing when I'm not on the bike, and help get beginners into the sport - so I don't consider myself to be a sponge on bike racing, or apathetic. I have even worked professionally in the sport so have seen both ends of the spectrum. For me, MNZ is nowhere to be seen for a club racer like me - I know who my local club committee members are and I help them, but I have no idea who Jim or Sandra are as people so I don't have a point of view - which is possibly the same for the 4000 odd who didn't vote.

Actually Paul,And this isnt directed at you personally,The club racers you refer to are as much too blame for the mess we have at the moment as MNZ are,After all its a two way street and if the members require more info on MNZ they can visit the website for more contact details. In fact I think if MNZ are too blame for anything,Its the fact they make it far to easy to get a licence. For a start you should have to sit a test of some sort before you can race,Thay way we will know the riders have atleast read SOME of the rules,As it stands now its not uncommon too hear someone asking in the middle of a racemeeting what some of the flags mean or if they should still have antifreeze in their radiator and its not the so called "A" listers that are asking these questions. For the record Jim has been at atleast 1 round of the last 2 Actrix series and been around talking too the masses,However its not possible for him to catch up with everybody in 1 day,Might be your turn this year

The same way the ones that didn't like the previous president did I guess, vent their spleen on KiwiBiker It is probably therapeutic and certainly cheaper than getting counseling

As a club MX and road racer, I absoultly agree with this.
Also making the voting easier (ie online) would make a difference as well.
