    Labour Weekend Social

    Hi All,

Labour weekend will fall on the 24th to the 26th October. I propose a couple of options and wish to see the general interest in a weekend away.

Any other ideas, feel free to comment....

As a personal choice, Waingaro. Think the trip out to Port Waikato / Raglan plus any other roads we can muster up....

The Waingaro hot pools have the longest open hot water slide in NZ (as well as bumper boats!)

Why don't we all dress up as characters from the movie "The Sound of Music" and get together and watch it on the big screen? Then afterwards we can sit around and sing!

Are you two going to come on this trip???
Waingaro sounds like a bunch of fun, is this going to be a two night trip maybe one night there and a night at say somewhere like Opal Hot Springs which is another great place to stay and they have heated pools, I like the idea of setting up then just exploring the roads in the area without carrying any gear.

Did I hear on the news that the Waingaro pub was damaged in the storm? Last time I saw it there was a distinct impression it could fall over anytime.

    Then there's this:

The Okoroire pub has a "Bike Shed" bar and in marked contrast to Waingaro is a nice Olde Worlde pub. The hot pools are sort of "bush" though.

I like the idea of setting up for 2 days. As long as ther'es a pub in walking distance

The roads around the waikato/bay aren't too bad either.

    Accomodation

There are basic motel type units across the road at Waingaro I have stayed in, but that was about 6 years ago.

It would be nice to not have to work for one weekend... But hey that Opal Hot Springs looks pretty good.

According to thier website there are cabins / flat / motels onsite at the hotpools. Would be nice to drag sorry arse from cabin over to hotpool without spilling too much liquor.

Buggered if I know but I vote not Turangi/Taupo. Just cause you lazy arses couldnt be bothered to come down at QB weekend dont drag every one down ther again (crap was that out load)

I might be keen, last year we did a bucket race in Tamuranui that weekend so will depend if that is going ahead or not.

For the record Qkkid was in my bed, not the other way round
