I live in a small town, with lots of small towns scattered around me. I am reasonably well known hereabouts. I was brave enough to have my phone number listed in the phone book, many aren't. I had/have children living here, this place is my home, I would do nothing to invite shit into my home life.

In my experience you gain nothing but trouble for yourself by dobbing people in, infact you must be seen to not be doing that. Stangely enough, the authorities always seem to find out about this sort of thing, heaven only knows how, they must have their ears firmly to the ground in some places

It pisses me off too!! I have worked my butt off for nearly 30 years, much of the time I have had second jobs as well. I have paid off my own house, done some travelling, put a little money in the bank but all because of hard work and sacrifice.

The most money I have earned in a year is probably $45k or thereabouts and that is through hard work on two jobs. All I have ever received from the Govt. is (admittedly without question) physio paid for by ACC after a back injury.

My folks worked their butts off for more than 40 years raising, feeding, clothing 3 kids and making sure we went to school etc and when my Mum died at 83 years old(bless her) my Dad wasn't eligible for assistance with the funeral costs!! We didn't need it but someone told us assistance was available. Not for us who graft hard and do the "right thing" but if my folks were drop kicks who drank and smoked and gambled all their money away, their would have been money for that.

The big question I have(and I do not even want to start a race war cos my Missus is Maori) is with the hundreds of millions of dollars of treaty settlement money, why do we still have(predominately) Maori kids going to school hungry, barefoot, without raincoats and living in substandard accomodation?

With all that money given to the tribes, why do we have to have a Telethon so the poor friggin kids can have something to eat for breakfast or lunch and why do the schools have to provide it?
