I've been stuck in the office doing workshop invoices for the last few days (after putting it off for weeks) hence my high post rate lately.
    And its boring me crazy.

Well said, Steve. The point of a group ride surely is to ride as a group. This is where the 'problem' lies. YT wants to ride with others, not meet up at odd points along the way or at the end. Of course, most likely being the slowest (read that as cautious) she feels she is holding others up if they stay with her, but to an extent resents being left on her own.
    Tis a hard one.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

when I get a road bike I'll stay with you YT!

Even though i haven't been on a group ride I'd expect it to be like if your going for a walk with some mates, It'd kind of suck if they just took off leaving you to walk there by yourself.

but generally it'd be better to have two rides so then the guys that want to go ooober fast can do that and not be held up and the guys that want more of a leasurely pace can be with the group that suits.

for a better social side the slower group could meet earlier and leave for a destination and then the fast ones later, and if timed correctly you guys could get to a place within minutes of each other.

I cant understand the way that this thread is going. I for one have my fast days and my slow days. Surely it is about everyone sharing a common iterest - Bike Riding. We all meet, decide a route, then just slip into the group/pace that suits and regroup at sensible points along the ride. This way we all ultimately meet up at the same destination and socialise as bikers with a common passion. Shit does it have to be more complicated than that???

Nobody wants 'complicated'. For whatever reason, the cruisy, more learner-friendly rides have dropped by the wayside. They were getting faster anyway, and YT stopped coming along cos of the pace, and being left behind. But we no longer have that group of people that like to ride cruisy. By that I mean decidedly sub-legal speeds. If the only people that turn up want to ride much faster, then we can't do much about that. Where are the riders that are happy to go 'slow'?

Right here, im a slow guy for now.

On a completely different note. Whos keen for a ride today? Not too big though. Maybe middle road to waipawa, over to tikokino and back up sh50 or something. But bear in mind im one of the 'slow people' as Im not too keen on meeting and chatting with the cops, tickets and all that crap.

    Possibly.
I could take you on a mentoring ride? Just the two of us...show you some lines, braking points, that sort of thing.

No no...not what I mean. Just some talk and do, on how to 'read' corners, lane position on approach, entry, exit - that sort of thing.

Most of them developed better riding skills and move to faster rides. That’s a good thing. So a few that didn’t want to ride fast got left with no one to organise rides or ride with. So it is time to put on rides for a slower group again. I am happy to do that when I get my weekends back as I like a slower pace from time to time. As Dale said, simple is good. So everything is easy as, when we establish the slower group again and get all the people who want to cruise riding together. We will do joint rides with both groups in time as we have done in the past. Everything is good. However I am on a ride with another group this weekend so can’t plan a ride for the slower group from K/B. Maybe next weekend……

Yeah thats true. I got to watch a lot of yours though lol. It was good following you yesterday because i could easily follow your lines and not have to think 'hmm wonder if this corner tightens any more' etc.
