Got it down to a fine art now. Pick up new (second hand) engine on the back, drive in the garage, chain block it out of the tray, drive out and turn around, drive back in and pull out knackered motor, roll back and chainblock new (not so knackered) motor and roll forward and drop it in. Whole proceedure takes 4-5 hours and back on the road again.
Run 186, 202, 179, 149, 161 (Torana eng) and 179 with 161 head over the last 10 or so years
    Looks like an EH?

Did you have a bastard time swapping the 186 for the 202? I know I did going from 202 to 186 - damned poxy sump bowls and oil pickups had to be different, didn't they.

Thanks for that mate, now I realise how uncool I have become....
The family car is a Honda Oddssey.
Back when all I needed was one spare seat, I had a few Holden utes. The best was a HQ with a 179 and a 5 speed "sillycar" gearbox.
Also had a Commonwealth games HQ four door with a little 253 which was quite nice (untill I put it in a demo derby at Meeanee)....

    Correct, it's an EH.
I have an HR ball joint front with boosted Torana discs, so EJ-HR sumps fit perfectly and I have a few spare so I can fit one before transplanting, not during. The dratted 202 blew my original Hydromatic and from then on started using a trimatic. Still keep the Hydromatic badge on the tailgate just because it's cool
One good smack with the hammer sorts any oil pickup clearence issues

I was doing 40,000 miles a year for 6 years towing trailers etc and she pretty much fell apart so trying to be a bit more respectful now and got an HQ/HJ ute for the dirtywork these days

The plan is to finish some rust patch welding underneath (It has launched more than a few boats ) then matte black her and fit a recon 179 HP and convert back to 3 on the tree full syncro HJ box

Holden were cheapskates back in the day.

EJ and EH utes and panelvans had EJ tail lights, but the EH ute/van did not have the vent inserts or bonnet of the EJ

Same applied to HD/HR panel vans and utes.

If you see an EH ute that has EH tail lights then someone cut down an EH stationwagon- I did one in the late 80's while I was trying to find a ute.

What's wrong with Cayennes?? It's either love it or hate it car (ref. Autocar Magazine).

    Performance = Phenomenal
Design = Not so phenomenal to some eyes.

    To Car Enthusiasts in Christchurch

There will be a Ferrari California and an F430 along with several other Italian exotics and classic Ferraris will be displayed at Euromarque for two days only, from tomorrow Friday to Saturday. The display is to celebrate the new setup of Euromarque and to introduce the California to New Zealand.

Pop in and have a look. Unfortunately the California is not the "Rosso Corsa" red but Azzurro Monaco (i.e. Light Blue). However it still looks beautiful.
