    Anyone know about Tinnie Boats?

Anyone here know much about tinnie boats?

Im looking for something to go fishing - Normally just me / wife or a mate.

    Im looking at this:

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-261026022.htm

What I have found is that the Yellow finn boats were made by the guy who made / started Bluefin boats in Silverdale.

When he sold Bluefin he made 13 of this kind of boat. They are very well put together. The hull is 4mm with 3mm sides - and feels somewhat more robust than a Fryan or a Ramco.

So - if anyone knows anything about Yellow finn (or tinnies) - any help would be appreciated?

What should I be looking for?

I've bene looking at these too. This one looks pretty good actually. They are certainly more robust than the standard Ramco/McLay. Love the underfloor access. The paint looks newer than 1995. The painted tinnies can react badly with the aluminium. This one seems to have been kept pretty well.

$22k will get you a lot of motorcycle. Oops I mean boat. For just fishing, then the tinnies are very good. But they do lack in the comfort department. For your $22k you can get something really comfortable and luxurious that your missus would love and you could do overnight trips etc.

And for not a lot more money you could get a brand new one. A mate of mine just got 35% off a new 5.3m tinnie ($28k).

    Good luck.

Fatta don't always mean better and the smell usually means indoor !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

For that price you'd be able to get a mean as V8 jet boat.

    Umm?
1995 built, but the engine is '01 and done 66hrs. How often has that been run? How often serviced?
Firing the outboard up once a month is recommended.
That is a decent underfloor fueltank that would get you around the harbour easily!

Weather protection. The screen and bimini is all there is, if the weather comes up. Should be fine in the Waitemata however. I've seen plenty out there on good days.

Personal thing for me is that tin boats are bloody noisy when sitting at anchor with waves slapping on the hull.

Keep us informed on this one!

And jet boats are a LOT more fun.. By a long shot. I had a jet boat for a couple of years, and going back to an outboard would be like driving a car compared to riding a bike.

These look cooler, are great at the lake, are really comfy to sit in, are great to fish from, safer around kids, have more room, and they corner like a demon.

Have you considered a 'Mac Boat?'

Similar design to Stabi-craft made made from ABS.
