10.5krpm in fifth gear? What RPM was it doing at 100? I think from memory it was around 7-8krpm? Show me a video.....their max hp claim was 33hp on the older bikes....That would give a real life 150km/h plus or minus 5km/h
    a hyosung {race preped one] will do a good 160km/h MR.ducatilover.

so maby hyo have a consistancy issue with their power output with the factry line

ive also riddin other hyos and a few have not got the same pull as mine did.

form what i gather the pre 09 models had lots of consistancy issues beetween the same model line
If its got enough pull to rev out in 5th, then an extra gear might give you extra top speed, but it could easily acheive that same higher top speed just by changing sprockets.

The only bonus of a 6th gear is that you would retain the ratios as close as they are now, as sticking with 5 you would be making them slightly longer by changing the sprocket... necessitating less gearchanges, as long as the bike can handle the jump between gears... which a 4-stroke smooth torquey bike like a hyo should manage easy
    Yeah, nah.

Try this. Either put a larger (3 teeth more) sprocket on the rear, or a smaller (1 tooth smaller) sprocket on the front.

It may well increase the top speed in 6th.

Of course it will increase the revs as well, but that is the idea!
Sprocket changes are a common mod for the GPX and it would have to be a must for racers.

What does a Hyosung & for that matter a Kawasaki ninga EX redline at ,out of interest?
Poor ole Spada commonly sees 14 thou, though peak torque is at about 12...redlines 12500.
Pretty wicked revs man, for a wee 250.

i found on a hyosung the power drops off at 10,000 RMP thats pretty much on the redline,

You rev your spada to 14K !! Jeez..

I thought Redline was 13.5k ? I never used to bother going past 12 as the power dropped sharply, when the motor starts going quiet its time too shift up..

Yeah, I too try to change earlier but sometimes in the heat of racing I hold it up there 'specially if a corners coming up & a gear change aint worth it...
Ruapuna has a pretty long main straight as well & shes fully tapped out at the end of it.
Yore right Gatchy, redline is 13500.
One week to the Port Nelson streetraces...

Right on man, an extra 2 gears changes when you don't need to..

I would love to watch nelson ! Watched the cemetery circuit racing in Wanganui today, bad as fuck man. Classic sidecars and supermotos were insane.. Around 30 bikes in f3.. Street racing gooood.

The Port races are a really good day out,& the fields are generally pretty full...
"Tards this year will be extra good I reckon 'cause Josh Coppins'll be there on a RMZ 450 it may bring a few extra spectators along.
Had a wander around the "track" the other day when up in Nelson shopping, they've resealed a few of the corners which look grippy as, compared to the rest of it which is looking a tad worn....
Being the Port though the surface is dirty as fark, what with all the logging trucks & associated detritus everywhere....hopefully there'll be a torrential downpour on about thursday to give it a wash.

Crikey, I might have to tell you a wee tale 'bout Nelson street races, but its about as boring as this
    thread has become.
Suffice to say that I didnt win Formula 3, that I was on the most gutless bike, I didnt crash & I DIDNT come last Almost as good as a win really.
Awesome event though, & I realy liked the track as you could join the infield corners nicely together & I made up a lot of lost ground from the main straight thru there....
Pretty wild night the night previous camped up under the tarp on the back of the truck as it blew its ring out for most of the night, but I had the good company of a couple of Upper Hutt-ians

Great atmosphere in the pits & a good crowd turnout once it cleared up...looked quite dodgey with the weather , with wet practice sessions first thing but by showtime the track had dried nicely .
Dont think the ambo folk were needed all day either!!
