There's always 1 or 2 who have to spoil it for others which is all it takes. Like you said Hels if they want to ride like that why don't they do it on a Race Track. Group riding always makes you have your wits about you as you never know what there riding skills are like until you see it for yourself, and by then its usually dangerous.
You have made the right choice in not continuing your rides with them again.

Ahhh but i got to the wairapa first at 2 pm and home at 9.30, so i bags the, who feels like they were run over by a tractor rather than riding one, trophy !
Was a superb day for it, thought about trying to track the wed night riders down to say hi and ride back ova the takas with ya's , but by the sounds of it, i would have just got in plebs way, haha my FXR is way wider Hells !
I've never enjoyed going slow so much !!!
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Interesting thread Hels...see, we all have choices...how we ride, join a group ride, or not, stay on a group ride, or not, and speak up about idiot behaviour, or not.
You made some excellent choices Hels, well done (me, I just gfo home and make a mental note to never ride with those people again...). If more people speak up maybe we'll have less of this kind of thing in the future. We can only hope so.

Definitely stands out who needs a fluro jacket when you can have a stuntman suit with a cape. Good to see you again. Was fun following you up the hill

Ah that explains why I didn't see you on the road coming back over.

Now firstly, I apologise for being at the front of the group on my slow old FXR at the start of the hill and secondly, I am not grouping everyone into this rant.

Guy's, I am genuinely appalled at what I experienced on the TCWNR tonight. I know I am not a nana on the road and do often ride at over the speed limit but what I saw tonight freaked me out so much that I pulled into the summit and went home.

Since when is it OK to pass people IN THE SAME FUCKING LANE while going round a corner?!?! Along with watching out for wannabe Rossi's I had to watch some of you cross the centre lane sometimes 3 of you in a row round corners you cou;dn't see around, and dont give me the "there was plenty of room" crap, I was right next to you, you couldn't see!

I do not want to be killed OR scrape someone off the road because someone just had to get past me or because someone wanted to treat the road like a race track. I race and I have never been so scared while riding then I was tonight. I think that some of you need to take a step back and have a think about what your doing and the image that you give others.

WTF happened to the "cruisy" Weds night ride?

    Let the flaming begin....
Ughh... that makes sobering reading. We'll have to have a rant and rave session at the start of the next ride to restate what we're about because there seems to be a lot of new people lately.

From memory you let me past just before the Hill so I wasn't around for the carnage. i did get stuffed like a Christmas turkey by that derelict old cunt on the black Harley while sitting in a queue of bikes waiting to pass a car... maybe he started some shit and lit everybody up.

Whatever the reason it seems like people need to take a step back and rethink what they're doing.

Really sorry your ride turned out that way.

    Chris.

@ carbonhead: Yeah, I had absolutely no issues with those that passed me before the hill and even some of the passing manouvres on the hill were sweet as too. The guy on the harley was mild in comparison to the "big balled boy wonders" that I could have put my elbow out and knocked. I am not naive as I have been riding for about 5 years now and have had my full licence for most of that. I also race on the track and have had a few ding dongs on the track but never, ever have I been so freaked out, even as a noob as I was last night.
The thing about group rides is that no one really knows the abilities of those around them. For all anyone knew I could have been a noob. What would have happened If I totally freaked and binned it.
Does anyone think that there may have been another group or even a poor lone rider coming the other way behaving in the same manner? Someone would've been seriously fucked up or dead.

sounds to me like an alternate meeting place needs to be arranged. For the riders who dont want take part in the exisiting groups. There seems to be enough interest to make it worthwhile. I'd do the ride, but comments like this thread have put me off. I'd be interested in a genuinley quiet pootle.
Hoping to convince the Ulysses club to do a workday pootle of a couple of hours for riders who just want to go for a slow cruise and keep the bike ticking over.

Simple solution - first one to the pub shouts everyone else a beer! (ginger that is - sober riding and all that).

Maybe we need to startup the Tuesday "too slow" rides. I like Hans idea of no group ride and you just make your way to a designated pub.

We were going to stop riding Wednesday nights but decided to give it one more try. For the ride over we sat at the back and had a great ride, the ride back however reminded us why we've stopped enjoying them so much.

I was passed on the hill by people like sels, gareth, the new guy on the grey Ducati and a couple of others, all very polite. They waited till it was safe, I moved over they gave me room and on we all went on our way safe and happy. Then came the fuckwit on the black bike, didn't see what it was, I was to busy praying. Passed me just before a bend, pushed me over to the kerb and forced me to brake hard standing the bike up and off in a direction I didn't want to go, thanks buddy.

    Next week, I doubt it
